Scope and Content:

This collection spans the years 1906 to 1956, and consists primarily of typed drafts and research for three books authored by Myers: History of Indiana University v.2, History of Medical Education in Indiana, and Trustees and Officers of Indiana University 1820-1950. This collection is organized into two series: Publications and Correspondence.

The Publications series (1926-1956) is further organized into four subseries. The first three correspond to the aforementioned volumes, and the fourth series consists of reprints of other publications by Myers. Spanning the period from 1942-1947, the first subseries, The History of Indiana University v.2, contains correspondence pertaining to Myer's research, five drafts of the book, and various research materials that are organized alphabetically by subject. The History of Medical Education in Indiana, the second subseries, spans the period from 1947-1956 and also contains correspondence pertaining to Myers' research on this volume. Additionally, there is an early and later draft of the book, a 1956 final published copy, notes, and a small amount of information of pertaining to the cost of publishing the book. The third series, Trustees and Officers of Indiana University 1820-1949, contains an undated draft of the book. Many of these drafts in the Publications series include extensive editorial suggestions and revisions by Ivy L. Chamness, editor of University Publications. Included in the fourth subseries, Reprints, are five reprints of articles written by Myers during the years 1926-1944.

The second series, Correspondence (1906-1950), contains correspondence that is not directly related to Myers' research for the History of Indiana University v.2, History of Medical Education in Indiana, or the Trustees and Officers of Indiana University. The majority of this correspondence is from Indiana University President William Lowe Bryan, but also contains a small number of letters by other individuals.
