- Biographical / Historical:
The Indiana University News-letter was a monthly publication that was used primarily to communicate with Indiana University alumni. It began as the Alumni News-letter of Indiana University in 1913. The university began using the title "Indiana University News-letter" with either the second or third issue of 1914. Issues were usually thematic, focusing on current events at the university and in the world.
- Scope and Content:
The collection consists of newsletters published from 1913 to 1945. Topics include current world events, such as World War I, and Indiana University happenings, such as athletic events and homecoming festivities. In addition, the newsletters often contain appeals to alumni for participation in alumni affairs as well as financial support for projects such as the Memorial Fund campaign.
The run of newsletters is mostly complete, lacking only the following issues: vol. II, no. 2 (1914), vol. III, no. 9 (1915), vol. IV, no. 1 (1916), vol. VI, no. 3 (1918), vol. VII, no. 8 (1919), vol. VIII, no. 6 (1920), vol. XVIII, no. 1 (1930), vol. XXV, no. 12 (1937), and vol. XXVI, no. 12 (1938).
