Darlene J. Sadlier began working as a professor for the Indiana University Bloomington Department of Spanish and Portuguese in 1978 and is the current director of the Portuguese Program. Her specialties include Brazilian and Portuguese literatures and cultures, Latin American cinema, and Gender studies.
- Scope and Content:
The Sadlier, Darlene J. mss., 1946-2013, consist of the audiovisual material, journals, correspondence and the published works of Darlene J. Sadlier. Darlene J. Sadlier (b. October 1, 1950) began her career in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University in 1978. She was Director of the Portuguese Program from 1979 until her retirement in 2014. She chaired the department from 1995-2000. Her specialties include literatures and cultures in the Portuguese-speaking world, with emphasis on Brazil and Portugal; Brazilian and Latin American cinema; and women and gender studies. Among the papers in her collection are letters from many Brazilian writers and others in Portuguese.
