Background

Biographical / Historical:

Heston starred in Bradley's 1941 film Peer Gynt, designed the costumes for his 1946 Macbeth (while serving in the Signal Corps with Bradley during World War II), and played Marc Antony in Bradley's 1950 adaptation of Julius Caesar. It was this last performance that captured the attention of Hollywood and got Heston a successful screen test with MGM. He went on to star in numerous motion pictures over a lengthy career and won a Best Actor Oscar for Ben-Hur.

Scope and Content:

The collection contains newspaper clippings regarding Heston's death, and a photocopy of a page from Heston's autobiography in which he recounts his first meeting with David Bradley.
