Biographical / Historical:

Clive Sinclair, 1948-2018, was an award-winning Bitrish author and also served as the literary editor of the Jewish Chronicle.

Scope and Content:

The Sinclair, Clive mss., 1948-2011, consists of the papers and correspondence of British author Clive Sinclair, 1948-2018. Clive Sinclair earned his B.A. from the University of East Anglia (1969), studied and taught at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and was the British Council guest writer-in residence at Uppsala University in Sweden (1988). He also served as the literary editor of the Jewish Chronicle from 1983 to 1987.

Sinclair has published several novels, including Bibliosexuality: A Novel (1973), Blood Libels (1985), Cosmetic Effects (1989), and Augustus Rex (1992); collections of short stories, The Lady with the Laptop and Other Stories (1996) and Clive Sinclair True Stories of the Wild West (2008); and personal essays, travel writings, and reviews. His stories, interviews, travel pieces, and reviews have been published in several journals and magazines including Encounter, The Year's Best Horror Stories, New Review, London Magazine, Transatlantic Review, and Monat. Clive Sinclair's works have won the Macmillan Silver Pen Award (1997), the Jewish Quarterly-Wingate Prize (1997), and the Somerset Maugham Award (1981).
