- Biographical / Historical:
James Barke was born in 1905 in Selkirkshire, Scotland. He moved to Glasgow as a young man and became actively involved in Nationalistic politics. He eventually became a writer and is now best known for his six-volume work concerning the life and accomplishments of poet Robert Burns, entitled collectively as Immortal Memory. Barke died in 1958.
