Scope and Content:

The Winter mss., 1864-1906, consist of letters written to drama critic William Winter, 1836-1917, largely from theatrical or theatre-related people. These particular letters had been assembled for the purpose of extra-illustrating two books by Winter: Old Friends: Being Literary Recollections of Other Days (New York, Moffat, Yard and Company, 1914) and The Poems of William Winter (New York, Moffat, Yard and Company, 1909, no. 2 of special limited edition).
