Background

Biographical / Historical:

Vincent Kling, 1942- , is a German professor and literary translator of mainly German texts from La Salle University in Philadelphia. He studied English, German, and comparative literature at La Salle University, Georg-August Universitat, the University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University. He is a 2 times Fulbright recipient and was awarded the 2013 Schlegel-Tieck Prize of the Goethe Institut in London for his translation of Why the Child is Cooking in the Polenta by Adlaja Veteranyi.

The collection contains the drafts, notes, and related materials regarding the translations of the following authors: Beat Portman, Gerhard Fritsch, Charles Lewinsky, Gert Junke, Werner Kofler, Sandra Hughes, and Aglaja Veteranyi.
