Background
- Biographical / Historical:
Vladimir Eliasberg was a doctor for the German army during World War I. He was stationed in France in 1918.
- Scope and Content:
The Eliasberg mss. consists of the letters of Vladimir Eliasberg, a doctor for the German army during World War I, and two French documents he found while stationed in France in 1918.
Eliasberg found a handwritten letter, written in French, signed "Suzette." He also found (or took) a handwritten French document detailing the military career of a French officer during the Napoleonic Wars. These two documents are accompanied by two letters, dated April 5 and April 10, 1918, written and sent by Eliasberg to his then wife, along with the two French documents. In his letters, he comments upon his finds and identifies Suzette and the French officer as husband and wife.
The details of Eliasberg's letters and findings were provided by Miriam Eliasberg Rosenzweig, his daughter.
