Biographical / Historical:

Norman W. Forgue, 1904-1985, printer. Forgue established his printing business in Chicago and Skokie, Illinois, and published close to 100 miniature books. His imprints included Normandie House, Black Cat Press, and The Gargoyle Press.

Scope and Content:

The Forgue mss. consists of letters and documents, ca. 1933-1945, relating to The Book Collector's Packet. Central to this collection are the four volumes, inscribed by Forgue, and special issues of the Packet, published from March 1931 to June 1946. They have been catalogued separately.

Also included are letters and ephemera related to the Packet. Among these are letters and notes, most addressed to Forgue or Irvin Haas, from Paul Johnston, Charles F. Heartman, Merle Armitage, Philip Duschnes, Ward Ritchie, and Lloyd Emerson Siberell; pamphlets; notes from Forgue; and other materials.
