- Biographical / Historical:
Carol Maier (b. 1943) is Emeritus Professor of Spanish Translation at Kent State University. She has a PhD in Romance Languages and an MA in Spanish. Her research interests include translation pedagogy, practice, and theory; contemporary Peninsular Literature and the Generation of '98; contemporary Spanish American poetry; and Hispanic women writers. She has translated works by Octavio Armand, Nuria Amat, Rosa Chacel, Nivaria Tejera, Severo Sarduy, and María Zambrano, and others, from Spanish into English.
- Scope and Content:
Correspondence includes letters sent to and received by Carol Maier from colleagues, especially concerning her role as a contributing editor of the Handbook of Latin-American Studies; rental slips and late notices from the Library of Congress and letters to the editors of HLAS. Handbook of Latin American Studies includes resources for the publication including Maier's notes, her essays and revisions; resources for Latin-American fiction, poetry, theater; resources for Latin-American literature theory; resources for new Latin-American publications and anthologies. Voice-Overs Anthology includes correspondence regarding the anthology's desire to include Maier's work. Translations includes a copy of César Vallejo's Trilce as translated by Clayton Eshlemann.
