Background
- Biographical / Historical:
Bernard Wolfe, 1915-1985, was an American writer known for both fiction and nonfiction works. He graduated Yale University in 1935 with a psychology degree. Wolfe worked as a bodyguard for Leon Trotsky in 1937 until he met Anais Nin and Henry Miller, through whom he found work writing pornographic novels. Through his career, he published many novels, short stories, screenplays, and nonfiction articles--often dealing with the subjects of his multi-faceted experiences around the world.

I. Correspondence contains the correspondence between Wolfe and other writers, publishers, friends, and family members. II. Writings includes the subseries Ms., Typescripts, and Proofs. Miscellaneous contains all other materials, including some of Henry Miller's works, personal papers, and various other documents.
