Background
- Biographical / Historical:
Ichthyologists Carl H. Eigenmann, 1863-1927, and Rosa Smith Eigenmann, 1858-1947, married in 1887. They spent much time in South America collecting and studying fresh water fish, studied the Agassiz fish collection at Harvard University, and co-published a plethora of fish-related articles. Carl H. Eigenmann had a forty-year career as a professor and dean at Indiana University.
