Background

Biographical / Historical:

Frank John Anderson self-published books, many of them miniatures, as the Kitemaug Press, and James Weygand self-published as The Private Press of the Indiana Kid.

Scope and Content:

The collection consists of three groups of papers, the first being correspondence (1971-1996) related to private press publishing and book collecting between Frank John Anderson and James Weygand and includes a few pieces of ephemera as enclosures in the letters. In this collection, Anderson and Kitemaug are largely interchangeable as much of the correspondence pertains to Kitemaug Books. The Private Press of the Indiana Kid, however, only appears as letterhead. See itemized inventory of letters in this series in Vertical File.

The second includes correspondence (1974-1998) between Anderson and Bromer Booksellers of Boston, primarily Anne C. Bromer, chiefly related to orders of Kitemaug Press books but also including: ephemera, greeting cards, clippings, catalogs and advertisements sent by or pertaining to Bromer Booksellers and miniature books.

The final series contains ads, catalogs and ephemera from booksellers and private presses dealing with miniature books and miniature book associations. The publishers and sellers include: Bronte Press, Carthegaat Bindery, Chanticleer Press, D'Ambrosio, Dea Sasso, Light of Day, Flying Paper Press, Gold Stein Press, Iron Bear Press, Juniper Von Phitzer Press, Junipero Serra Press, The Kingdom of Lilliput, Lilliput Press, Lorson's Books and Prints, Mystic Places Press, Native Nevadan Publications, Old Manuscripts and Incunnabula, Plandome Book Auctions, Schori Press and Tabula Rasa Press.
