Background

Biographical / Historical:

Ross Benjamin is a writer, literary critic, and translator of German-language literature into English. A former Fulbright scholar and a 2015 Guggenheim Fellow, Benjamin is best known for his translations of Franz Kafka, Clemens J. Setz, and Thomas Pletzinger, among others.

Scope and Content:

The collection consists of manuscripts and corrected page proofs of Thomas Pletzinger's novel Funeral for a Dog, translated from the German by Ross Benjamin. Also included are annotated drafts of Benjamin's translation of Clemens J. Setz's Indigo.
