Biographical / Historical:

Mark Harman (b. 1951) is an Irish-American translator and professor of German and English at Elizabethtown College, Pennsylvania. Harman is best known for his 1998 translation of Franz Kafka's The Castle, a work that earned him the Louis Roth Award.

Scope and Content:

The collection consists of an early draft of the opening pages of Mark Harman's translation of Kafka's The Castle, as well as a complete original computer-generated typescript (heavily revised and copy-edited).
