Background

Biographical / Historical:

H. Donald Wilson, 1923-2006, was a lawyer, business consultant, and founding president of Mead Data Central. In 1969, Wilson prepared a business plan and began to advocate for LexisNexis, a software system used to search and retrieve legal texts. Wilson began working with the United World Federalists in 1949, managing the New York State Branch and going on to serve as Executive Director of the Connecticut Branch from 1950-1952. After resigning from the UWF in 1955, Wilson returned as Chairman in 1970.

Scope and Content:

The collection consists of correspondence, proposals, studies, reports, and other materials relating to H. Donald Wilson's involvement in the founding and development of LexisNexis. One highlight is the transcript of the Arthur D. Little consulting team presentation to the Mead Corporation outlining a business proposal for the software system.
