Background
- Biographical / Historical:
Cecelia Diane Barron, 1916?-2004, was a painter and fiber artist in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a student at St. John's School of Art in Newfoundland, Canada before moving to Lansing, Michigan and attending Michigan State University in 1956. Throughout her career, her works were exhibited in galleries and shows including the Indiana Repertory Theatre's "Exhibition of Fibers" in November 1975, the All Souls Unitarian Church's "Watercolors and Weavings" in March 1979, and in the River Bend Art Gallery in September 1984. In addition to her exhibitions, Barron was involved in several Indiana-based art organizations. She gave lectures for the Indiana Weavers' Guild and taught weaving at the Ft. Harrison Arts and Crafts Center. She was the Treasurer of Indiana Artist-Craftsman, Inc. (IAC) from 1975-1977, the Newsletter Editor of IAC from 1978-1984, and served on IAC's board of directors in 1987. She was also the Publicity Chairperson of Indy Weavers, Spinners, and Dyers. Barron died in Indianapolis in June 2004.

This collection contains Barron's collection of brass rubbings, tools and materials used to make the rubbings, and Barron's personal papers including her resume, photographs, and information about her work.

Items in the series Brass Rubbings and Personal Items are contained in non-standard boxes and have been left in their original order. Items in the Personal Documents series are organized into folders based on the documents' content, and are arranged alphabetically by folder title.
