Background

Biographical / Historical:

Susana Wald is an artist specializing in painting and ceramics. She was born in 1937 in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated with her family to Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1949. In 1963, she met Chilean poet and artist Ludwig Zeller, who became her artistic collaborator and life partner. Together they founded Casa de la Luna, a cultural center in Santiago, Chile, and later founded Oasis Publications in Toronto, Canada, specializing in surrealist works.

Scope and Content:

The Wald, Susana mss., 1970-2003, consist of production materials for the biography Susana Wald: Celebración / Celebration, published in 2003 by El Colegio de Oaxaca, Mexico. Materials include exhibition catalogs/flyers from shows throughout Wald's artistic career, photographs, and various proofs of the book. The collection is completed by original artwork, "Sucedio en el desierto," by Susana Wald and Ludwig Zeller.
