- Scope and Content:
This collection consists of papers collected by Alan D. Solomont. Transcripts and ephemera from presidential events and speeches regarding Americorps and American national service are placed first. The last third of the collection consists of a selection of articles and publications, with articles and clippings authored by or written about the 2008 Obama presidential campaign first, then the Corporation for National and Community Service. This is followed by materials about civic engagement and national service in general, with clippings and articles advocating for national service spanning from the second Clinton administration to the beginning of Obama's first term, then a selection of uncut mainstream and philanthropic periodicals focusing on national service, particularly during the 2008 presidential campaign and the beginning of Barack Obama's presidency.
