Background
- Biographical / Historical:
The Geography Department was established at IUPUI by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education in 1971. In the beginning, only four full-time faculty taught in the department. Since 1981, the department has graduated many students with a B.A., an undergraduate geography minor, a graduate certificate, or an M.S. in Geographic Information Science. The department has continued to develop more courses in geographical information sciences with foucuses in medical geography, environmental research, and aerial imaging.

The Department of Geography Records houses the departmental newsletter from 1997-1998. This material provides updates on faculty, classes, and programs of the department.
