These reports pertain to archaeological investigations, excavations, and surveys conducted by the Glenn A. Black Laboratory from 1964 to 2019. These institutional reports remained with the collections and are maintained by the IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

The collection represents the official reporting output of the Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology which was organically created and managed during the institution's life. In 2020, the GBL merged with the Mathers Museum of World Cultures to now be known as the IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

Thom Sullivan initially wrote the finding aid in 2015.
Parts of the collection were digitized and abstracts uploaded to IU ScholarWorks by Patrick Sovereign in 2019.
The digital EAD was updated in 2020 and 2023 by Kelsey Grimm.

This is a static collection, though new reports may be issued under the IUMAA name.

- RESTRICTIONS:

Archaeological site information is legally protected by the Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) of 1979. ARPA prohibits the "public disclosure of sensitive information, specifically the nature and location of archaeological resources" (16 U.S.C. §470hh). Due to this, the IUMAA can only provide these reports to those with professional archaeological affiliation and professional accreditation.
