In 1976 Lassiter departed for Washington, D.C. where as a student at Howard University, he experienced first hand the evolution of go-go music. After graduation Lassiter moved to Atlanta where he immersed himself in the local music scene and participated in the rise of Southern rap music. Starting with a small recording studio Downstairs Productions, he later expanded into audio engineering, record promotion, distribution and more.
