- Biographical / Historical:
Craig Werner is the author of Higher Ground: Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, and the Rise and Fall of American Soul (New York: Crown, 2004); A Change is Gonna Come: Music, Race & the Soul of America (New York: Plume, 1998); Playing the Changes: From Afro-Modernism to the Jazz Impulse (Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 1994); and Up around the Bend: The Oral History Of Creedence Clearwater Revival (New York: Spike, 1998).
- Scope and Content:
The collection consists of interviews conducted by Craig Werner with various musicians as part of his research for books on soul music and Credence Clearwater Revival. The majority of the interviews deposited were conducted for the Credence Clearwater Revival research. Interviews that relate to rhythm and blues and soul music include Bobby Womack, Eddie Thomas, and Johnny Meadows.
