- Biographical / Historical:
The Bill Heim Company provides management and fundraising advice to the leaders of American not-for-profit organizations. The company counsels staff and volunteers at schools, colleges, and universities; historical societies; cultural arts, youth, business, professional, and sports organizations; and foundations. They help the organization achieve a better understanding of its programs and value by conducting market research feasibility studies. They then compile and analyze the data make recommendations for action by the company. The services the Bill Heim Company provides are used for financial management, designing and directing fundraising campaigns, expanding membership, and program development.
William G. Heim, company chairman, founded the company in 1973 with twenty-three years of experience in public relations, in raising money, and in directing the fundraising program of the Ohio State University. In 1981, Rita A. Fuerst merged her marketing services firm with the Bill Heim Company. She acted successively as Vice President, President, and director of the company until 1996 when she took a seat on the Board of Directors.
- Scope and Content:
Client Files, 1979-1998, consist of files on individual clients that are arranged alphabetically. The client files are the most substantial portion of the collection. These files contain feasibility studies; correspondence; campaign materials; and background information such as annual reports, brochures, histories, and paraphernalia published by the client.
Professional Development Records, 1982-1997, consist of reports and publications prepared by the Bill Heim Company to introduce their services to potential clients and speeches given by Bill Heim at professional organization meetings.
