Indiana Campus Compact is a 501(c)(3) non-profit partnership of Indiana's public, private, and community college higher education institutions focused on advocating, implementing, and improving community engagement efforts so that students graduate as well-informed, engaged, and productive members of society who are fully enabled to provide leadership and service that advances the public good in their communities. Indiana Campus Compact is a state affiliate of Campus Compact.

Background

Biographical / Historical:

Formed in 1993, Indiana Campus Compact is a partnership of college and university presidents and chancellors who have committed themselves, and their institutions, to their communities through mutually beneficial and meaningful collaborations to create engaged citizens and vibrant communities.

Indiana Campus Compact is the only organization in the state that works with public, independent, and two-year institutions of higher education.

Indiana Campus Compact is a state affiliate of Campus Compact, a national coalition of 1,000+ colleges and universities committed to the public purposes of higher education.

The Campus Compact network includes state and regional Compacts throughout the country. State and regional Compacts serve local member institutions and communities while advancing national initiatives and place-based programming in pursuit of our shared mission.

Scope and Content:

This collection consists of the records from Indiana Campus Compact, the Indiana affiliate of the nonprofit organization Campus Compact. The collection covers the years 1988-2019, with the largest portion coming from the years 2000-2011. Although there are gaps within this collection, the records provide the best overview of the development and history of Indiana Campus Compact. The files are generally arranged in alphabetical order unless stated otherwise.

The collection is divided into eleven series: Historical Files, Administrative Files, Meeting Minutes, Publications, State Files, University Files, Subject Files, Artifacts, Photographs, Digital Materials, and Audio Visual.

Historical Files, 1988-1994

This series contains files related to the background and formation of Indiana Campus Compact, including materials such as correspondence, Indiana Consortium for Voluntary Services files, meeting minutes, and survey responses. These files were tansferred from the IUPUI Ruth Lilly Special Collections and Archives collection UA018, the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy Records.

Administrative Files, 1991-2019

This series contains files over the anniversary celebrations of Campus Compact (20 years) and Indiana Campus Compact (15 years), annual membership survey results, annual and biennial reports, correspondence, national members surveys and resource guides, season of service booklets, information over staff retreats and strategic planning, as well as files over the IUPUI Research Academy, the Lilly Colloquium, and the Service Engagement Summit.

Meeting Minutes, 1995-2019

This series contains meeting minutes from multiple entities of Indiana Campus Compact, including minutes from the board of directors meetings, the executive committee meetings, the Indiana Humanities Advisory Council, the presidents and chancellors board meetings, and staff meetings. The meeting minutes are arranged chronologically.

Publications, 1993-2012

This series contains issues from three different publications of the national branch of Campus Compact (Campus Compact Reader, Compact Current, Compact Magazine) and three publications of Indiana Campus Compact (Impact, Indiana Campus Compact, Universities as Citizens). Note that not all issues of these publications are present.

State Files, 1988-2007

This series contains publications and reports from other state-based affiliate Campus Compact organizations, including the organizations of California, Florida, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, and Wisconsin.

University Files, 2002-2018

This series contains materials over campus visits, GrowIndiana Americorps, grant projects, and Service Engagement Corps of colleges and universities across the State of Indiana who are or were interested in being members of Indiana Campus Compact. This includes Anderson University, Ball State University, Butler University, Franklin College, Indiana State University, Indiana University campuses, Ivt Tech Community College, Manchester College, Marian University, Purdue University campuses, Taylor University, University of Indianapolis, University of Saint Francis, and University of Southern Indiana.

Subject Files, 1988-2016

This series consists of publications from related nonprofit organizations, foundations, universities, associations, and corporations that appear within the collection. Some organizations include Association of American Colleges, Campus Outreach Opportunity League, Independent Colleges of Indiana, Lilly Endowment, and Indiana Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.

Artifacts, 1996-2012

This series contains three awards and two Indiana General Assembly Resolutions received by Indiana Campus Compact.

Photographs, 1989-2016

This series contains photographs of staff members, AmeriCorps members, students, service-learning summits, events, and award ceremonies held by Campus Compact and Indiana Campus Compact. This includes printed photographs, polaroids, negatives, and 56 photo cds. The pictures were transferred off the physical CDs to preservation servers. The physical media is not available to researchers.

Digital Materials, 2002-2012

This series consists of the digital files from Indiana Campus Compact. These files include word documents, powerpoint presentations, and excel sheets over projects, grants, and reports from Indiana Campus Compact and its member institutions. The born-digital materials were transferred off the physical media to preservation servers. The physical media is not available to researchers.

Audio Visual, 1996-2008

This series contains the nine VHS tapes and four DVDs that appear within the collection, related to Campus Compact, Indiana Campus Compact, and other organizations.
