The Lilly Correspondence mss., 1919-1954, consists of the correspondence of Josiah Kirby Lilly, Jr., 1893-1966, corporation executive of the Lilly Pharmaceutical Company of Indianapolis, Indiana, with bookdealers and individuals concerning the purchase of books, manuscripts, portraits, and prints. This correspondence reveals J.K. Lilly's many interests, among these Edgar Allan Poe and James Whitcomb Riley, the construction and equipment of Eaglecrest Libray at his home, and his membership in the Grolier Club.

The Lilly Library mss., 1958-1975, consist of the administrative office files of David Anton Randall, 1905-1975, bookman and first Lilly Librarian, and of William Rae Cagle, 1933- , Assistant Lilly Librarian. Both groups are arranged in alphabetical files as maintained in the Lilly Administrative Offices. There is a folder list of contents in the Vertical File. (Original acquisition: ca. 24,000 items) Additions to the collection are the files of William Rae Cagle, Lilly Librarian, appointed Acting after David Randall's death. The Lilly Library Readers Services Dept. mss., ca. 1950- 1978, consist of the correspondence and office files of that Department and of Geneva Warner, 1919- , Special Collections librarian, later Head of Readers Services. Several of the files date from the Indiana University Library's Special Collections era, prior to the existence of the Lilly Library. In Spring 1978, the Readers Services Department was merged with Technical services to form a single Book Department. Geneva Warner retired July 1, 1978, at which time this material was sorted and transferred to the Public Services Department for retention as part of the Lilly Library Archives.

The Lockridge mss., 1941-1947, consists of the writings of author Ross Franklin Lockridge, Jr., 1914-1948, including the manuscripts of The Dream of the Flesh of Iron and Raintree County.

The Lockridge mss. II, 1941-1975, consists primarily of correspondence from author Ross Franklin Lockridge, Jr., 1914-1948, to various individuals. The Lilly Library acquired these letters to complement the manuscript files for Lockridge's book, Raintree County. Many of the letters discuss the success of Raintree County as well as Lockridge's untimely death.

Lockridge mss. III, circa 1837-2000, consists of the correspondence, unpublished manuscripts, photos, papers, and audio tapes pertaining to the life and work of author Ross Lockridge, Jr., 1914-1948, and the Lockridge family.

The Moody mss., 1934-1990, consist of correspondence files and manuscripts of Indiana University professor of theatre and drama, Richard Moody, 1911-1996.

The Muller, Herbert, mss., 1913-1976, consist of the correspondence, writings and lecture notes of Herbert Joseph Muller, 1905-1980, distinguished professor literature and government at Indiana University, Bloomington.

The Muller mss., 1910-1967, consists of the papers of Hermann Joseph Muller, 1890-1967, geneticist and Nobel prize laureate, including correspondence; writings and reprints; research and data from his work as well as from his students and colleagues; materials related to conferences; and work with various professional organizations.

The Nettl mss., 1927-1967, consist of letters of Paul Nettl, 1889-1972, musicologist, during his residence at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey, and at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.

The Norvelle mss., 1957-1959, consist of materials related to the play "Lincoln in Indiana, 1816-1830," adapted by Lee Roy Norvelle, 1892-1984, professor of speech and theatre at Indiana University, from the play, Marked Corners, by Mrs. Francesca (Falk) Miller Nielsen, (Mrs. A. E. Nielsen), 1888-?.

The Norvelle mss. II, 1920-1981, consist of the papers of Lee Roy Norvelle, 1892-1984, Professor Emeritus of Speech and Theatre at Indiana University. Present are correspondence, travel memorabilia, the typescript and galleys for Professor Norvelle's autobiography, The Road Taken (IU Foundation, 1980), and five reels of tape recordings.

The Von Tress mss., 1916-1993, consists of photocopies of manuscripts, pictures, records, letters, and published articles drawn from a memory book of Edward Campbell Von Tress, 1899-1976, an alumnus of Indiana University who helped head the university's Memorial Fund as Alumni Secretary.

The Waddell mss., 1944-1987, consists of the World War II correspondence between geologist (Byron) Courtney Waddell, 1916-2003, and his fiancée and then wife, Australian-born Lola Yvonne Line, 1918-1998.

The Willis mss., 1942-1945, consist of letters and documents of Hugh Evander Willis, 1875-1967, professor of law at Indiana University, dealing with Professor Willis' plan for achieving lasting peace through a federation of the world and with his proposals for the constitution of the United Nations.

The Wilson mss., 1891-1983, consists of the papers of William Edward Wilson, 1906-1988, Indiana University James A. Work Professor of English at Bloomington, Indiana, author, and newspaperman.

The Woodburn mss., 1795-1942, consist of letters and papers of four generations of the Woodburn family, James Woodburn, 1748-1812, farmer; Dorrance Beatty Woodburn, 1786- 1856, farmer and teacher; James Woodburn, 1817-1865, teacher; and James Albert Woodburn, 1856-1943, historian.
