The Ayelsford mss., 1941-1968, consists primarily of correspondence, articles, photographs, and miscellaneous material collected by friar Father Brocard Sewell, 1912-2000, during the years he edited The Aylesford Review, a literary quarterly sponsored by the British Carmelites, 1955-1968.

Consists primarily of the papers of the British publishing firm of Calder & Boyars Ltd. Also included are the papers of its predecessor John Calder (Publishers) and the personal papers of John Calder, 1927- . A few personal papers of Marion Boyars, 1928-1999, are also present.

The Sassoon mss., 1928-1959, consists of letters from author Robert Gathorne-Hardy, 1902-1973, to poet Siegfried Sassoon, 1886-1967, and materials concerning Sassoon's book Common Chords (Mill House Press, 1951).

The Whistler mss., 1963-1967, 1973, consist of correspondence of the British poet Sir (Alan Charles) Laurence Whistler with Jean Frampton, the typist of his memoir The Initials in the Heart (1964) and other works.

The X mss., 1928-1961, (principally 1959-1961), consist of the office files of X: A Quarterly Review, edited by David John Wright and Patrick Swift and published by Barrie and Rockliff, London, England, vol. I, no. 1, November 1959 to vol. II, no. 2, August 1961, inclusive.
