The Crist mss., 1861-1865, consists of letters to Barbara Ellen Crist, chiefly from her brother, Milton C. Crist, 1838-1864, and her future husband, John Erastus Lane, 1837-1893, both of whom were soldiers with the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.

The Crull mss., 1835-1904, consists of letters and documents relating to the Crull family of Hamilton County, Indiana.

The Hunter mss., 1862-1893, consists of the Civil War documents of Morton Craig Hunter, 1825-1896, brevet brigadier general and congressman from Indiana.

The Handley mss., 1862-1908, consists of the correspondence and papers of the family of Jesse Handley, 1803-1889, of White Oak Springs, Buckhorn Township, Brown County, Illinois.

The Flanagan mss., 1861-1962, are the papers of Emma Cecelia (Rector) Flanagan, (Mrs. Edward E. Flanagan), 1870- 1964. They consist primarily of correspondence with the Dreiser and Rose families dealing with personal matters.

The Forwalter mss., 1642-1939, are historical documents collected by Dorothy J. Forwalter.

The Harding mss., 1843-1930, consists of the papers of Stephen Selwyn Harding, 1808-1891, lawyer, governor of Utah Territory, and chief justice of Colorado Territory.

The Houser mss., 1855-1863, consists of Civil War-era letters of the family of Jacob Hauser, 1793-1863.

The Lamb mss., 1862-1901 (bulk 1862-1865), consist of letters to Mrs. Mary Catherine (Hatten) Lamb from relatives, most of whom were soldiers in the Union Army during the Civil War.

The Cravens mss., 1850-1872, consists of the correspondence and papers of farmer, soldier, Indiana legislator, and U.S. congressman James Addison Cravens, 1818-1893.
