The Binkley, Raglind mss., ca. 1450-1842, consist of medieval fragments collected by Thomas and Raglind Binkley.

The Latin American mss. Mexico III, 1563-1855, consist of historical documents relating mainly to Mexico's colonial period.

The Latin American mss. British Guiana, 1821-1844, consists of one item.

The Aristotle mss., 1603-1704, consists of commentaries on the works of Aristotle. At least half of the volumes concentrate on logic, but other subjects are covered as well, including physics and general philosophy.

The Spears mss., 1955-1967, consist of the files of educator Harold Spears, 1902-1980, relating to the twelve years he was superintendent of schools for the San Francisco Unified School District.

The Sillitoe mss. II, 1950-1996, consists of the papers of writer Alan Sillitoe, 1928-2010.

The Untermeyer mss. III, 1917-1977, consists of the papers and correspondence of author Louis Untermeyer, 1885-1977.

The White, H. mss., 1927-1982, consists primarily of the correspondence of musician and writer Harry Anthony White, 1908-1982.

Collection consists of revised and copy-edited typescripts, galley proofs, and correspondence for approximately fifty original short stories and novellas from the "Golden Age of Science Fiction" published in Galaxy, Beyond Fantasy Fiction, Other Worlds, Fantasy & Science Fiction, Unknown Worlds, Universe Science Fiction, IF, and other magazines.

The Day mss., 1855-1906, consists of letters and papers of Silas J. Day, first lieutenant, Company G, 2nd regiment, Oregon mounted volunteers.

The Dearborn County, Ind. mss., 1826-1871, consists of nine volumes of court dockets and miscellaneous papers related to the history of Dearborn County, Indiana.

The Cummins mss., 1888-1980 (Bulk 1930-1970), consists of the correspondence, personal papers, blueprints and drawings of Clessie Lyle Cummins, 1888-1968, automotive diesel engine developer and founder of Cummins Engine Company of Columbus, Indiana.

​The Esarey mss., 1912-1914, consists of the reports of a survey of Indiana newspapers and the draft of a history of newspapers in Indiana based on the survey.

The Esarey mss. II, 1830-1865, consists of a commission to Jonathan Davis Esarey, 1783-1858, as associate judge of Perry county, Indiana, 1830; deed for the transfer of real estate in Crawford county, Indiana, by John Hughes to Tolbort T. Yates, 1840; land grants to Jonathan Davis Esarey, 1837, 1841, to John Hughes, 1840, 1841, and Jesse Clark Esarey, 1817-1869, soldier, 1858; a commission to Jesse Clark Esarey as an ensign in the 12th regiment, Indiana Militia, 1841; report by Jesse Clark Esarey of the Perry county Oil Rifles, 1865; certificate issued to Jesse Clark Esarey for study and drill at the school of instruction at Burnside Barracks, 1862; a bill for rations furnished for picket duty at Cross Roads near Hitt's blacksmith shop, July 13-18, 1863, at the time of Morgan's Raid by G.W. Hitt; and a diploma to Louisa E. Hight from the Monroe County Female Academy, 1856.

The Enslin mss., 1962-1972, consists of letters from poet Cid (Sidney) Corman, 1924-2004, to Theodore Enslin, 1925-2011, writer.

The Federman mss., 1962-1992, consists of letters written to author Raymond Federman, born 1928, by fellow writers and colleagues.

The Farano mss., 1954-1955, consist of letters and postcards from author Max Eastman to poet Michel Farano.

The Fenn mss. consist of materials from the library of Bert R. Fenn of Tell City, Indiana, related to the Howard Shipyards and Dock Company of Jeffersonville, Indiana.

The Ellsworth mss., 1843-1874, consists of the papers of Stukely Ellsworth, -1876, lawyer.

The Fenton mss., circa 1927-1969, consist of letters to Frank L. Fenton, professor of English at Stanford University and San Francisco State College.

​The Fischer mss., ca. 1888-1975, consists of the correspondence and manuscripts from the files of German publisher Samuel Fischer, 1859-1934.

​The Fernández Nodal mss., 16th cent.-1883, consists of the papers of José Fernández Nodal, a Peruvian scholar born in 1822.

​The Ferguson mss., 1864-1929, consists of a collection of letters to Charles Eugene Ferguson, 1856-1945, a physician of Indianapolis, Indiana, and a member of the Indiana University School of Medicine faculty.

​The Filbeck mss., 1861-1920, consists of letters and papers of Nicholas Filbeck, 1843-1915, hotelkeeper of Terre Haute, Indiana, and of his estate.

The Fess mss. consists of nineteen black and white undated photographs of paintings by artist Theodore Clement Steele, 1847-1926, and one of his studio in Brown County, Indiana. The photographs were made by Frank Michael Hohenberger, 1876-1963, also of Brown County, Indiana.

The Forwalter mss., 1642-1939, are historical documents collected by Dorothy J. Forwalter.

The Ford mss., 1892-1929, consist of drawings by Henry Justice Ford for works by Andrew Lang.

The Foreign film mss., 1939-1962, consists of movie stills from 23 foreign films.

The Forman mss., 1885-1887, are those cards and letters sent to Harry Buxton Forman, 1842-1917, editor, who at this time lived at 46 Marborough Hill, St. John's Wood, London. Written by Ford Madox Brown, 1821-1893, painter, and John Pollard Seddon, 1827-1906, art critic.

The Engel mss., 1862-1941, consists of letters to Harry Engel, 1901-1970, artist and professor dealing primarily with the murals in the Indiana University Auditorium, 1933-1941.

The Forster mss. II, 1947-1970, consist of letters from Edward Morgan Forster, 1879-1970, novelist, to his biographer and one-time secretary, Philip Nicholas Furbank, 1920-2014, author.

The Forster mss., 1920-1935, consists of correspondence of Edward Morgan Forster, 1879-1970, novelist, with authors, editors, and publishers about his publications and literary figures.

Form mss., 1915-1920, consist of drawings, etchings, and one letter related to the periodical Form: a quarterly of the Arts, edited by Austin O. Spare and Francis Marsden, published in London by John Lane (April, 1916) and Form: a monthly magazine of the Arts, edited by Austin O. Spare and W. H. Davies, published by The Morland Press, London (Oct.- Dec., 1921).

English Legal Documents III, 1279-1668, consist of samples of handwriting from the thirteenth to seventeenth centuries.

The Gellert mss., 1927-1978, consist of the correspondence and writings of Lawrence Gellert, 1898-1979, composer and author of Negro Songs of Protest.

The Gellert mss. II, mid-twentieth century, consists of unpublished drafts and fragments of a novel by folklorist and composer Lawrence Gellert, 1898-1979.

The Gilbert mss. II, 1931-1954, consists primarily of the correspondence between Carroll Atwood Wilson, 1886-1947, lawyer and collector of Gilbert and Sullivan materials, and Townley Searle, Gilbert bibliographer of London, England, concerning the sale and collecting of items relating to Gilbert and Sullivan operas.

The Gill mss., 1874, 1878-1879, consists of letters and prospectuses from various English girls' schools describing their curriculum, teachers, and environment.

The Gilbert mss., 1867-1932, consists of typescripts of plays, 1867-1874, of Sir William Schwenck Gilbert, 1836-1911, and correspondence of Townley Searle, bibliographer of Gilbert.

The Gillen mss., 1930-1933, are papers of Courtland Craig Gillen, 1880-1954, Congressman from Indiana.

The German legal documents are those legal documents in the German language which have been acquired as individual pieces.

The Hunter mss., 1862-1893, consists of the Civil War documents of Morton Craig Hunter, 1825-1896, brevet brigadier general and congressman from Indiana.

The Humphreys mss., 1814-1825, consist of the journal of the Atlantic cruise of the U.S. Frigate Constitution, by A.Y. Humphreys, ?-1826, chaplain and purser of the U.S. Navy.

The Harding mss., 1843-1930, consists of the papers of Stephen Selwyn Harding, 1808-1891, lawyer, governor of Utah Territory, and chief justice of Colorado Territory.

The Harris mss., 1848-1851, consists of letters to Jonathan Newton Harris, 1815-1896, merchant and banker.

The Haldeman mss. II, 1908-1951, consists of correspondence of writers and editors, including Emanuel Haldeman-Julius, 1889-1951, who were connected to Haldeman-Julius Publications.

The Hesse mss., 1934-1946, consist of four personal letters from and an article concerning Hermann Hesse, 1877-1962, author.

The Eaton mss., 1959-1983, consist of letters written to Lady Cynthia Eaton.

The Hlavatý mss., 1953-1961, are manuscripts of Václav Hlavatý, 1894-1969, mathematician, written for publication.

The Hoffman mss., 1864-1949, consist of correspondence and records of the Hoffman Bros. Company (formerly J.R. Hoffman & co.), Fort Wayne, Indiana, manufacturers of the Hoffman patent band saw mill and of black walnut lumber and chairstuff.

The Resuscitator mss., 1963-1969, consist of the archive of the second series of the poetry journal, Resuscitator.

The Remak mss. II, 1965-1990, consist of correspondence between Klaus H. Pringsheim, nephew of Thomas Mann, and Indiana University Professor of Germanic Studies, Henry H.H. Remak, about Pringsheim's essay "Thomas Mann in America, Some Political Comments."

The Jessner mss., 1928, consists of albums of photographs taken by members of a German-Russian Syphilis Expedition to Soviet Mongolia. The leader of the expedition was Professor Max Jessner.

The Konopinski mss., 1934-1988, consists of the papers and writings of physicist Emil Jan Konopinski, 1911-1990.

The Koul mss., 1947-1953, consist of letters of Upton Beall Sinclair, 1878-1968, novelist, to Braj Kishan Koul of Agra, India, translator.

The Korbly mss., 1910-1921, are letters to Charles Alexander Korbly, 1871-1937, congressman from Indiana, 1909-1915, and member of the House committee on banking and currency, 1911-1915.

The Kormendi mss., 1932-1973, consist of the papers of Ferenc Kormendi, 1900-1972, novelist.

The Latin American mss. Argentina, 1612-1944, consist of material principally about the independence period of Argentina for the years 1806-1823.

The Latin American mss. Peru II, ca. 1760-1820, consists of 25 documents which describe living conditions, roads, local Indians, etc. in Peru.

The Latin American mss. Mexico III, 1563-1855, consist of historical documents relating mainly to Mexico's colonial period.

The Latin American mss. Guatemala music manuscripts, late 16th-early 17th centuries (ca. 1570-1635), consists of 13 bound volumes and two fragments.

The Lilly Library Readers Services Dept. mss., ca. 1950- 1978, consist of the correspondence and office files of that Department and of Geneva Warner, 1919- , Special Collections librarian, later Head of Readers Services. Several of the files date from the Indiana University Library's Special Collections era, prior to the existence of the Lilly Library. In Spring 1978, the Readers Services Department was merged with Technical services to form a single Book Department. Geneva Warner retired July 1, 1978, at which time this material was sorted and transferred to the Public Services Department for retention as part of the Lilly Library Archives.

The Lilly Library Mendel Collection mss., 1961-1974, consist of reference correspondence relating to the acquisition, cataloging, and use of the Mendel Collection of Latin American materials in the Lilly Library. Additions to the collection include financial records and papers relating to the firm Lathrop C. Harper while owned and operated by the Indiana University Foundation, primarily 1967-1968. Also present are some earlier, 1950s, materials that include stock issues and minutes of stock holders meetings.

The Logan, F. mss., 1934-1940, consists of the clippings, photographs and writings of author Hamlin Garland, 1860-1940.

The Lilly, E. mss., 1940, consist of correspondence, photographs, and printed materials relating to Eli Lilly's acquisition of a Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington.

The Marcuse mss., ca. 1991-1993, consists of translations into Spanish of three books by Dr. Seuss. The translations were done by Aída E. Marcuse, 1934- , translator and writer of children's books.

The Masaryk, T.G. mss., circa 1923-1934, consist of 5x7 black and white photographs of or relating to Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, 1850-1937, president of the Czechoslovak Republic, 1918-1935.

The Masaryk mss. II, 1939-1966, consists of the letters and papers of sociologist Alice Garrigue Masaryk, 1879-1966.

The Marull mss., 1784-1839, consists of materials relating to the personal and business affairs of the Marull family.

The Poole mss. are a collection of 137 ancient, medieval and renaissance manuscripts and single leaves ranging from the 3rd to the 16th century. The collection was formed by George Amos Poole, 1907- , printer, of Chicago, whose interest was in the development of scripts which have had a direct influence on the design of Western printing types, rather than in illumination and decoration. Most of this material relates to religious matters.

The Ralston, S.M. mss., 1868-1928, consists of the papers of Indiana Governor and U.S. Senator, Samuel Moffett Ralston, 1857-1925.

The Ralston, Jennie Craven mss., 1894-1950, consists of the papers of Indiana's Democratic National Committeewoman and wife of Samuel Moffett Ralston, Indiana Governor and US Senator, Jennie Craven Ralston, 1861-1954.

The Rainer mss., 1948-1971, consists of the correspondence, writings, and memorabilia of author and poet Dachine Rainer, 1921-2000.

The Nye mss., 1967-1971, are cards and a letter to poet and novelist Robert Nye, 1939-2016, from poet Nathaniel Tarn, 1928- .

The Raintree Press mss., 1975-2010, consist of manuscripts, galleys, etc., of the Raintree Press of Bloomington, Indiana.

The Rappite mss., 1810-1939, consist of correspondence, music books, and other papers of the Harmony Society founded by George Rapp, 1757-1847.

The Plath mss. IV, 1953-1966, consist mostly of letters and manuscripts of poet Sylvia Plath, 1932-1963, and poet Ted Hughes, 1930-1998.

The Norton mss. II, 1943-1960, consist primarily of letters from author Max Forrester Eastman, 1883-1969, to assistant magazine editor, Florence Norton. Also present are a few letters and telegrams from Eastman's second wife, Eliena Krylenko, 1895-1956, and a few from his third wife, Yvette Szekely (b.1912), following their marriage in 1958. Through 1956 these letters complement those found in the Norton mss. That is, this is the Eastman side of the correspondence while the Norton mss. are Florence Norton's letters to Max.

The Pinero mss., 1896-1915, are mainly letters from Sir Arthur Wing Pinero, 1855-1934, dramatist, to Sir George Alexander, 1858-1918, actor and manager.

The Pike mss., circa 2002-2003, consist of the translations from German into English made by Burton Pike, 1930- , Professor Emeritus of Comparative Literature at The City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center.

The Pliny mss., 9th cent.-1938, are photostats of Pliny manuscripts assembled by Selatie Edgar Stout, 1871-1969, professor of Latin and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Indiana University.

The Phillips, M.J. mss., 1960-1990, consist of the correspondence and papers of Michael Joseph Phillips, 1937- , poet.

The Plath mss. III, 1941-1951, consist of artworks by the poet Sylvia Plath, 1932-1963.

Preston mss., 1941-1948, consist of letters to solicitor Kerrison Preston, relating primarily to playwright Gordon Bottomley, 1874-1948.

The Potter mss., 1862-1865, consist of one roll of negative microfilm of letters of Private Merritt Emory Potter, Company B, 75th Indiana Infantry, to his wife, Mrs. Ellen E. Potter.

The Rago mss. II, 1942-1969, consists of the papers of poet and editor of Poetry (Chicago) Henry Rago, 1915-1969.

The Pryor mss., ca. 1931–1949, consist of papers, correspondence, and clippings related to the 1940 Republican convention where Wendell Willkie was nominated as the Republican candidate for President.

The Pyke mss., 1890-1901, consist of letters from Mary Moore, Alfred Piatti, Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree, and Sir Charles Wyndham to Joseph Pyke.

The Quaker mss., 1818-1888, consist of minutes of the Blue River Monthly Meeting, 1818-1860, and minutes of the Blue River Quarterly Meeting, 1833-1885.

The Remak mss., 1946-1954, consist of letters and one postcard from author Thomas Mann, 1875-1955, to Indiana University Professor of Germanic Studies, Henry H.H. Remak, 1916-2009.

The Redl mss., 1956-1959, consist of letters, postcards, and poems sent to Harry Redl, 1926-2011, photographer of San Francisco, by various authors.

The Rehorst mss., August 1948, consist of letters from author August William Derleth, 1909-1971, to Paul Harold Rehorst of Chicago, Illinois, relating primarily to the availability of Derleth's books and other writings for purchase.

The Kafader mss., 1855-1916, consists of the papers of Engelbert Kafader, 1836-1917.

The Jones mss., 1815-1867, consists of three daybooks, November 28, 1815- May 8, 1824 and October 29, 1835-March 7, 1867, of the Jones & Stockwell merchandise store of Princeton, Indiana.

The Lane, J. mss., 1835-1906, consist of correspondence and papers of Joseph Lane, 1801-1881, first territorial governor of Oregon.

The Lane, H.S. mss., 1828-1909, consist of letters and papers of Henry Smith Lane, 1811-1881, governor of Indiana, member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and U.S. senator.

The Lane, H.S. mss. II, 1858-1871, consist of letters and documents from various people to Indiana politician and U.S. Senator Henry Smith Lane, 1811-1881.

The Lamb mss., 1862-1901 (bulk 1862-1865), consist of letters to Mrs. Mary Catherine (Hatten) Lamb from relatives, most of whom were soldiers in the Union Army during the Civil War.
