Collection is closely related to Mexican history since in 1822 Salvador was part of the Mexican Empire. Over half of the collection is concerned with the proposal of Juan Jose de Viteri to reunite the members of the revolutionary Cuerpo de Dragones under the name of Cuerpo de Voluntarios Imperiales. Other items commend the Salvadorians for their patriotism during the War of Independence and their loyalty to the Mexican Empire.
