This project consists of Southern Indiana inhabitants discussing their life histories and their affiliation with area churches. Many of the interviewees discuss growing up on a farm and community cooperation during butchering and threshing seasons. Throughout these interviews they discuss church history, church picnics, and the church community. They also talk about the merger of the Congregational, Reformed and Evangelical churches into the United Church of Christ. The interviewees discuss the changes this had on the church ceremonies and activities. Two of the interviewees attend the Catholic Churches in the area and they discuss traditions and changes that they have seen in the Catholic Church since Vatican II and throughout their lifetimes.

Indian American Communities in Indiana provides a sampling of Indian American voices, most of whom were born in India and now reside in the United States. Among the topics discussed are maintaining Indian cultural values in an American context, religious beliefs and practices, imparting Indian traditions and values to children born to Indian parents but are growing up in the United States, differences between Indian born and American born Indian Americans, educational and career choices, politics of India and America, current events, Indian community associations, and cultural differences between India and America. his project was co-directed by Professor M. Gail Hickey of the School of Education at Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne.

The project, Dubois County: A Home for God's People, consists of interviews of residents, most of whom could trace their ancestry back to the original German settlement of the area. The interviewees shared their German heritage and discussed the almost clan-like German Catholic communities, and how they grew and changed over the years since there first establishment. The Catholic church was discussed as a central point of the communities, as was the German language and its various dialects and farming as a way of life.

This project contains information about the movie theater industry in Bloomington, Indiana in the 1930s to present. Interviewees discuss their remembraences of movie theaters: the movies they saw, the people they worked with, the fires that periodically destroyed the theaters, and their interior decoration. Interviewees also talk about the theater business today and how it has changed over the years.

Ruth Rives discusses her life history growing up in Germany during the World War II era. She speaks of her family and living environment, and the confusion, fear, and hardships she faced. She speaks of the experiences of her young adult life nursing, doing missionary work in Iran, and immigrating to the United States. She talks about her life as it unfolded in America and her return trips to Germany.

The Krapf, N. mss., 1997-2018, consist of the papers of Indiana poet and writer, Norbert Krapf. The collection includes submission and publishing correspondence, reviews, responses, readings, promotional materials, drafts, proofs, manuscripts, some audiovisual materials, and personal correspondence with mentors and collaborators.

Contains speeches by incumbent Michael A. McRobbie, Vice President for Information Technology from 1997 to 2007 and President- Elect in 2007.

The not-for-profit group Beyond the Pale Productions was founded in 1998 to promote avant-garde and improvisational jazz in the Bloomington, Indiana area. This collection includes includes press releases, newspaper clippings and flyers announcing upcoming concerts as well as background information on individual artists.

The Kling, Vincent mss., 1996-2013, consists of materials related to the translations of various works done by Vincent Kling, 1942- , German professor and translator at La Salle University in Philadelphia.

The David mss., circa 1996–2005, consists of the papers of professor Alfred David, 1929-2014.

The first president of what was then Indiana College was elected by the Board of Trustees in 1829. Gerald L. Bepko served as interim president of Indiana University January through July 2003. Collection consists of one series, Subject files, and is comprised of records collected and created by Bepko and his office during his six month tenure as interim president of Indiana University. A wide range of topics are covered in the records, including IU athletics, the regional campuses, and Bepko's files on the I-69 controversy.

The Bononno mss., 1996-2003, consists of translation drafts, proofs, editorial correspondence, and other materials by Robert Bononno, 1949-.

Pamela W. Freeman was the Associate Dean of Students and former Director of the Office of Student Ethics and Anti-harassment Programs at Indiana University Bloomington (1985-2011). This collection holds papers relating exclusively to Freeman's involvement with the Lambda 10 Project National Clearinghouse for Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Greek issues and two of its resulting publications.

This collection of interviews gathers information about economic development from some key locations in southwestern Indiana, Indianapolis, and northwestern Indiana, among others. Topics include environmental issues, Brownfield redevelopment, tax incentives, and labor unions. Many issues are the same from one region to another, but some regions, such as northwestern Indiana, emphasize environmental or Brownfield redevelopment over unions or workforce training.

This project includes people living in and around Paoli, Indiana. The project includes people's experiences and attitudes toward death, dying, and illness. The interviewees share their feelings on losing loved ones. They discuss the roles of religion, family, fear, and medical interventions in the process of death and dying. They also discuss the various preparations involved including, funerals and wills, as well as personal preparations.

This collection of interviews deals with life in Hoosier communities in southern Indiana, primarily during the mid-twentieth century. Emphasis is placed on the use of the German language, German culture, and religion, and how they have molded the community.

This project includes interviews with three people involved with important aspects of the development of Middle Way House in Bloomington, Indiana. They discuss the grass roots beginnings of the house as a crisis center and its change into a battered women's shelter. The interviewees discuss funding and grant writing for Middle Way House and the financial difficulties the shelter has encountered in the past.

This project discusses labor in Indiana. The main topics include the labor movement in Indiana, women and work, coal mining, and auto workers. The United Auto Workers, United Mine Workers of America, and other labor unions are discussed. The interviewees discuss participation in labor strikes and the leadership in their unions.

The Bryer mss., 1996, consist of letters and manuscripts of various authors assembled by scholar, editor, and author Jackson R. Bryer, 1937– , for his F. Scott Fitzgerald at 100: Centenary Tributes by American Writers (Rockville, MD: Quill & Brush, 1996).

The Cultural Studies Program was established circa 1992 and promotes interdisciplinary research with a focus on the relationship between cultural forms and power relations in society. The Cultural Studies Program records spans 1995-2012 and documents various aspects of the program's administration, including budgeting, funding, course scheduling, and staffing, as well as conferences and other events organized by the program.

The project ISIS was started in about 1995 by then Dean of International Programs (OIP) Patrick O'Meara and then Dean of the School of Education (SOE) Howard Mehlinger, and is ongoing today. Originally ISIS stood for "International Studies for Indiana Schools," when Indiana schools were all that it served, but some years later was changed to "International Studies In Schools", since it now serves schools (and a few other audiences) right across the country. The Collection consists of videos of programs, program files, and general administrative files of ISIS.

The Constantine mss., 1995-2002, consists of literary translations by Peter Constantine, 1963-, of German and Russian authors.

The Wakefield mss. II, 1995-2002 collection consists of materials related to the film adaptation of Going All the Way by novelist, journalist, and screenwriter Dan Wakefield, 1932-

This project contains interviews of members of Indiana county historical societies. The counties included are La Porte, Monroe, Noble, Jefferson, Wells, Randolph, Tippecanoe, Vigo, and Johnson. The interviewees discuss local history and the development of the historical society in their area. They describe society events, funding, exhibits, and publications. The members also describe their connections to their local history. They explain why they believe local history should be preserved and the role of the historical society.

This collection of interviews deals with the role of religion and ethnicity, specifically German-American, in Dubois County, Indiana. Subjects range from church celebrations and events to the use of nuns as teachers in the public schools. The use of the German language in the community is also widely covered, such as where it was used, who spoke it, and when it began to change primarily to English.

This collection of interviews looks at twentieth century life in Indiana. Topics are widely varied with emphasis based on the interviewers particular interest. Tthe labor movement, Flanner House Homes, and the DAR are discussed in the setting of larger events such as the Great Depression, World War II, and segregation.

The Nadel mss., 1995, consists of a typescript copy of Ira B. Nadel's biography of Leonard Cohen, Various Positions: A Life of Leonard Cohen, with annotations and commentary in the hands of Leonard Cohen and Kelley Lynch.

Extensions of the Tradition is an annual event featuring a concert of music by black composers with related exhibits and programs, co-sponsored by Indiana University's African American Arts Institute, the AAAMC, and the Jacobs School of Music. The event is documented through program booklets, flyers, photographs, and video and audio recordings.

The Wissing mss., 1994-2016, consist of the papers of Indiana University alumnus and Bloomington-based journalist Douglas Wissing. The collection includes his freelance articles as well as several book projects, including two books on US aid to Afghanistan.

The I Association (formerly I-Men Association (1913-2006) and I-Women Association (1982-2006)) honors exceptional athletes at Indiana University Bloomington. This collection contains files about I Association alumni events and event planning, Board of Directors meeting information, I Association membership, and email, letter, and memo correspondence between I Association staff and alumni.

The Center for the Art of Translation mss., 1994-2010, consists of editorial files, proof copies, correspondence, and other material relating primarily to the Center's publication of Two Lines, an annual bilingual anthology of international literature featuring work from approximately twenty different languages.

The Wolfson mss., ca. 1994-2002, consist of the papers of Laura E. Wolfson relating to her translations of works from Russian into English.

David G. Woods is a leading educator and researcher in the field of music who became the Dean of the Indiana University School of Music on July 1, 1997 and served until 1999. This collection consists of records created and collected during his time as Dean, and it includes the administrative files of his office including correspondence, records on master classes, and plans for the Distance Learning Program.

Myles Brand served as president of Indiana University 1994-2002. Collection consists of speeches given by Brand during his tenure as President of Indiana University.

The Strategic Directions Charter is an initiative enacted by Indiana University President Myles Brand in 1995 in response to acknowledged fundamental changes in the environment for higher education. The Charter's goal is to enact institutional changes and plans which will sustain the University's excellence, enabling it to emerge as a model for America's New Public University. A steering committee and topical task forces were created to guide Strategic Directions Charter initiatives and review proposed projects for funding. The collection includes administrative documents as well as files from funded and un-funded proposals submitted for rounds one, two, and three (1996-1998) of the Strategic Directions Charter initiative.

The Maycox mss., 1994-1998, consists of notes and autographs of contemporary American poets solicited by and sent to John G. Maycox, poet and businessman of Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Battle Over Citizen Kane mss., 1994-1996, consist of photographs of Orson Welles, William Randolph Hearst, and related topics collected for the production of the documentary film, The Battle Over Citizen Kane (1996). Photographs are reprints collected from archives and collectors for the film production.

This collection of interviews delves into several areas of Dubois County history between the two world wars. The most spoken of topics are religion, church events, and the use of German in various locales within the community. Also discussed are Prohibition and the notoriety of the county's moonshine industry, the Great Depression, and education in one-room schoolhouses.

In this project, retired professors from the Indiana University Department of History discusses their experiences in the profession. Topics discussed include educational and work history, the history department curriculum, development of the history department over time, prominent people in the department, publishing, teaching, and changes in the student body over time.

The collection consists primarily of audiocassette copies of the 26-part radio series Wade in the Water, produced by NPR in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution, and concieved and hosted by Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon.

The Pyle mss. V, 1994, consist mostly of annotated excerpts from interviews by James Tobin with relatives and acquaintances of journalist Ernie Pyle, 1900-1945.

The Bernofsky mss., 1993-2007, consists of correspondence, manuscripts, and proofs of translator Susan Bernofsky, 1966-.

Consists of papers, photos, and audiovisual materials generated and received by the office of Steve Buyer during his tenure as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Indiana's 5th district from 1993 to 2003 and Indiana's 4th district from 2003 to 2011.

The collection consists largely of clippings and printouts from clipping services relating to Evan Bayh's senatorial career, plus staff-compiled "Legacy Files," photos, and 364 videotapes, CDs, and DVDs. The "Legacy Files" and photos also include his gubernatorial years.
