The Ballantyne mss., 1934-1972, consists of letters written to Scottish collector Charles Ballantyne, 1903-1985, about novelist William Beckford, 1760-1844.

The Ball mss., 1873-1981, consists of the correspondence, family papers, and items collected by George Alexander Ball, 1862-1955, his wife, Frances Emily (Woodworth) Ball, 1872-1958, and their daughter, Elisabeth Woodworth Ball, 1897-1982.

The Baltic mss., 1539-1710, consists primarily of Russian and Slavic legal documents.

The Banta mss., 1836-1888, consists of the papers of James P. Banta, 1814-1873, Civil War soldier of Salem, Indiana, and his wife, Jane P. Lewelling, 1812-.

The Banta, R.E. mss., 1938-1977, consists of the writings and research notes of Richard Elwell Banta, 1904-1977, bookman and raconteur.

The Baraka mss., 1981-2003, consists of the notebooks and unpublished works of poet Amiri Baraka, 1934-2014, previously known as LeRoi Jones.

Both graduates of the University of California, Berkeley, Barbara and Charles Jelavich were hired at Indiana University in 1962 as specialists in Eastern European History by then Chair of the History Department Robert Byrnes. The majority of the collection reflects the work of Barbara while a small portion of the work of Charles is included with publications.

Barbara Gomez's Learn and Serve America Collection contains publications about the Learn and Serve America and service learning from various institutions.

Barbara Shalucha founded the Hilltop Garden and Nature Center in Bloomington, Ind. in 1948 and served as its director until 1986. Shalucha first came to Indiana University as an instructor in the Botany Department. She was hired for her special perspective on applied botany which incorporated youth involvement. The Barbara Shalucha papers comprise 7 cubic feet and span 1935-1992. The collection includes correspondence, speeches, publications, subject files, and teaching materials.

The Barber mss., 1862-1864, consists of the Civil War diary of Confederate soldier Flavel C. Barber, 1830-1864.

The Barke mss., 1948, consists of three volumes of The Wonder of All the Gay World: A Novel of the Life and Loves of Robert Burns by author James Barke, 1905-1958.

The Barker mss., 1953-1954, consists of four notebooks of George Barker, 1913-1991, author, and an undated letter from him to David John Wright, 1920-1994, author.

The Barnard, H. mss., 1924-1983, consists of the correspondence of Harry Barnard, 1906-1982, journalist, relating to his projected biography of Wendell Lewis Willkie, 1892-1944.

The Barr, R. mss., 1964-1965, consists of two 16mm film interviews of Vance Hartke, 1919-2003, U.S. Senator from Indiana.

This small collection holds a single letter from Indiana University student Bartholomew H. Burrell to Mortimore Crabb, who resided in Burrell's hometown of Brownstown, Ind. The letter, dated 5 February 1864, details difficulties the campus literary societies were having with university administration.

The Batterton, Davies mss., 1847-1848, consists of materials related to Indiana University alumnus Davies Batterton, 1823-1860.

The Battle Over Citizen Kane mss., 1994-1996, consist of photographs of Orson Welles, William Randolph Hearst, and related topics collected for the production of the documentary film, The Battle Over Citizen Kane (1996). Photographs are reprints collected from archives and collectors for the film production.

The Baumgarten mss., 1957-1971, consist of the correspondence of literary agent Bernice Baumgarten, 1902-1978, with four women authors she represented over the years, as well as a file of general correspondence.

The collection consists of documents from the Birch Bayh Senatorial Papers related to the development of Public Law 96-517, amendments to the Patent and Trademark Laws introduced in the 96th Congress as the University and Small Business Patent Procedures Act and subsequently known as the Bayh-Dole Act of 1980.

The Beacons mss., 2006-2008, consists of the administrative files, correspondence, and manuscript materials of Beacons: A Magazine of Literary Translation and its creator and editor Alexis Levitin, 1942-.

The Beals mss., 1967, consist of production material for Carleton Beals' The Great Revolt and Its Leaders: The History of Popular American Uprisings (New York: Abelard-Schuman, 1968).

The Beard mss., 1952-1964, consists of letters from master culinary expert and teacher James Andrews Beard, 1903-1985, to long-time friend and fellow cookbook author Helen Evans Brown, 1904-1964.

Indiana University's Beck Chapel was envisioned by Frank and Daisy Beck and the University Committee on Religion. The goal was to create a spiritual place for people of all religions to pray and meditate. Beck Chapel was completed in 1956. The materials within this collection mostly include pamphlets and booklets with information about the purpose, history, and function of Beck Chapel, as well as event programs such as dedications or presentations. Additionally, it contains the "Book of Remembrance," that lists couples who were married in the chapel as well as the officiant from 1956-1971.

The Beckman mss., 1940-1966, consists of the papers and correspondence of United World Federalists leader Fredrik Woods Beckman, 1886-1978.

The Beerbohm mss., 1899-1944, consists of the drawings and correspondence of Sir Max Beerbohm, 1872-1956, caricaturist and essayist.

The Beldon Fund was created in 1978 by environmental philanthropist John R. Hunting as a national foundation focused on advocating for environmental policy. From 1982 to 1998, the Beldon Fund provided grants to organizations like American Environment Inc., the Clean Water Fund, the Ohio Environmental Council, and the Idaho Conservation League. In 1998, John Hunting sold his stock in Steelcase Inc. and endowed Beldon with $100 million, prompting him to rethink the direction of the foundation. Hunting believed that increasing global warming and environmental destruction required immediate attention, and so he planned a ten-year spend-out of the Beldon Fund. Initially, Beldon made grants in five program areas, but in 2001, feedback indicated their scope was too broad for their spend-out timeframe. Beldon refocused into two program areas—the Key States program and the Human Health and the Environment program. The Beldon Fund made its last grants in June 2008 and closed its doors in 2009, after the completion of the spend-out. Over the last ten years of the fund, Beldon spent $120 million in grants and projects. The Beldon Fund Records consist of grant proposals, grant reports, notification of grants, board minutes, executive director records, financial and administrative records, and correspondence.

The Belva Davis and William Moore Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame Archives collection contains audiovisual recordings of BFHFI events hosted between 1978 and 1993 as well as text-based documents generated during the production of the 2nd and 18th annual BFHFI Black History Month Celebration in 1975 and 1991.
