The Webb, A.S. mss., 1862-1898, consists of the correspondence and papers of soldier and educator Alexander Stewart Webb, 1835-1911, relating primarily to the Battle of Gettysburg.

The Webb mss., 1923-1927, consists of the correspondence and writings of novelist Mary Gladys (Meredith) Webb (Mrs. Henry Bertram Law Webb), 1881-1927.

The Webster mss., 1831-1901, consists primarily of the family correspondence and diaries of Harlow S. Webster, 1815-1902, of LaPorte County, Indiana.

W. Edson Richmond was a professor in both English and Folklore, and Acting Director of the Folklore Institute (1981-1982) at Indiana University, Bloomington, from 1945 until 1986. This collection documents Richmond's research and publishing in the area of Norwegian and Scandinavian language and culture as well as other academic activities, such as instruction and academic advising, service on departmental and professional committees, and participation in folklore conferences and professional societies. Types of material present in the collection include published and unpublished articles, research and instruction notes, correspondence, and programs and brochures.

The Weeks mss., 1862-1879, consists of the correspondence and papers of soldier William C. Weeks, 1839-1893, and his brother, army officer Harrison Samuel Weeks, 1844-1892.

The West mss., 1937-1952, consists of writings, letters, and pictures of or relating to poet Robert Frost, 1874-1963, collected by Herbert Faulkner West, 1898-1974, professor of comparative literature at Dartmouth College.

These materials comprise a thirteen-part radio series of public service broadcasts produced by Sam Chase for WLIB radio in New York in cooperation with Newsweek Magazine.

Wheeler Mission Ministries is a charitable organization serving the material and spiritual needs of poor individuals and families in Indianapolis, Indiana through Christian evangelism and conversion. Begun in 1893 as a home for unwed mothers by the Meridian Union of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, it was expanded by William Vincent Wheeler later that year to include a Rescue Mission. Coupling its charitable work with programs to develop a sense of self-sufficiency among the poor, Wheeler Mission was among the city's first charitable operations of its kind and continues to serve the needy of Indianapolis. The records, 1904-1992, consist of the administrative files which contain the correspondence and subject files of superintendents Herbert E. Eberhardt and Leonard C. Hunt, financial files, documentation of Wheeler Mission Associated Groups, printed materials, some research materials from the Door of Hope publication, photographs and audio/visual materials.

This collection of interviews primarily delves into the Republican view of Indiana politics from the nineteen twenties to the early nineteen sixties. Major emphasis is placed on both state and national elections and conventions from 1940-1948. The project contains discussions of political campaigns (including finances), the patronage system, and legislation battles. The interviews also reflect on William Jenner by describing his character, beliefs, and influence on Republican politics in Indiana.

The Wiggs mss., 1874-1936, are the papers of George Washington Wiggs, 1853-1938, grain dealer on the Chicago Board of Trade, member of the Press Club of Chicago, and an Indiana University graduate of 1874.

Wilbur F. Pell, Jr., a 1937 graduate of Indiana University and a 1940 graduate of Harvard University Law School, led a successful career in law. While a student at Indiana University, he held leadership positions in numerous areas, including editor of both IU's humor magazine the Bored Walk and of the university yearbook, the Arbutus. He also served as the manager of the University Theatre, and in 1936 was elected Grand Master of the Beta Theta Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Indiana University. This collection contains materials related to his work with the Arbutus, Beta Theta, and the University Theatre. Also included is a small amount of personal correspondence.

The Wilder mss., 1860-1868, consist of letters to Edson Adelman Wilder, 1845-1927, hardware merchant of Orland, Indiana, from his friends and relatives serving in the 100th regiment, Co. B., of the Indiana Infantry.

The Wilkins mss., 1797-1801, consist of official receipts to John Wilkins, 1761-1816, Quartermaster general of the U.S. Army, 1796-1812.

The Willett mss., 1863-1875, consist of letters and documents of the George Willett family of Quincy and Walpole, Massachusetts.

This collection consists of commercial, agricultural, and medical materials belonging to William Adolphus Ashton (1803-1870), who tried to establish a co-operative community in Franklin County, Indiana in 1834.

This collection consists of manuscript scores of Banfield's music, promotional and ephemeral material relating to Banfield, and recordings and transcripts of interviews that Banfield conducted with a variety of African-American composers as well as recordings of Banfield's radio show, Landscapes in Color.

William B. Edgerton was a professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures (1958-1983) and Chairman of the department (1958-1965, 1969-1973) at Indiana University. His research and teaching interests focused on eighteenth and nineteenth century Russian literature. The collection consists of correspondence, materials relating to his professional activities, and records pertaining to his teaching career.

William Dean Fraser was a professor of Bacteriology and Microbiology at Indiana University from 1955-1986. The William Dean Fraser papers comprise .3 cubic feet and spans 1948-1977. A small collection, the Publications series is the most prominent series, consisting of Fraser's bibliography and a handful of his articles including Case for DDT and Price of Survival. The correspondence series consists entirely of letters regarding his People Problem and Viruses and Molecular Biology article, while the Subject files holds information about his professional activities and organizations.
