The Elder, Robert K. mss., 1970-2012, consist of the papers of journalist, author, and film critic Rob Elder, 1976- .

The Elder, Robert K. mss. II, 2001-2020, consist of personal correspondence from writer and journalist Robert K. Elder to his collaborator Aaron Vetch.

The Engs, Ruth mss., 2001-2010, consist of typescripts, page proofs, correspondence, and research materials for works by health reform scholar Ruth Engs.

E. Reginald Townsend (1917-1980) is best known as the man who built Liberia's Information Service. He served as Press Secretary and Chief of the Bureau (now the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism) to William V.S. Tubman, President of Liberia from 1944 to 1971, and as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs to William R. Tolbert, President of Liberia from 1971 to 1980. Townsend's wife, Evelyn Diggs Townsend (1932-2004), was involved in and led several church and women's organizations. After a coup brought down the Tolbert government and resulted in her husband's execution in 1980, she worked to attain peace in Liberia. The materials in this collection include papers from the years of Reginald Townsend's service during the Tubman and Tolbert presidencies and those from Evelyn Townsend's work in many service organizations, as well as personal correspondence and memorabilia from the Townsend family

The Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at Indiana University South Bend is home to five academic departments offering bachelor's and master's degrees: Communication Studies, Fine Arts, Music, Integrated New Media Studies, and Theatre and Dance. This collection includes paper records documenting the administrative functions of the school; biographical files about faculty and staff; publications by and related to the school, including Aspire Magazine, IU South Bend's arts magazine; photographs of theatrical performances; newspaper articles and press releases; event programs and posters; and an extensive collection of audio and video recordings of performances hosted by the school.

Esther Thelen (1941-2004) was a professor of psychology at Indiana University Bloomington and a well-known researcher in the field of developmental psychology. She is known for applying the dynamic systems theory to the study of infant motor development; this has since become the dominant theoretical viewpoint in the field. Much of Thelen's research was done at Indiana University Bloomington's Infant Motor Development Laboratory, which she established and directed. This collection contains personal files and correspondence; documents related to public speaking appearances, publications, and roles in professional organizations and committees; educational materials from psychology courses taught by Thelen; and materials related to Thelen's research, including handwritten notes, drafts of studies, and videotapes of research subjects.

Eugene Chen Eoyang is Professor Emeritus of Comparative Literature and of East Asian Languages and Cultures and was a member of the Indiana University faculty from 1966-2002. Collection consists of papers from his time teaching at Indiana University, as well as papers of his own areas of research and professional projects.

The collection consists of the press files and a few political files of former Indiana Governor and U.S. Senator Evan Bayh, including extensive files on the "Capital for a Day" program and clippings from local and national publications about Evan Bayh. There is also a large compilation of videotapes and other audio visual materials, such as cassette tapes and photo albums.

The collection consists largely of clippings and printouts from clipping services relating to Evan Bayh's senatorial career, plus staff-compiled "Legacy Files," photos, and 364 videotapes, CDs, and DVDs. The "Legacy Files" and photos also include his gubernatorial years.

This collection spans the active career (1964-) of Evelyn Simpson-Curenton as well as holds materials highlighting the renowned Singing Simpsons, and Evelyn's sister, Joy Simpson. It consists of CDRs, LPs, DVDs, and home-video tapes; along with several concert programs, photographs, personal letters and more.

Every Voice and Sing: The Choral Music Legacy of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities is a 5-part series on Black choral music that explores the social/political context of the Civil War/Reconstruction era that brought about the formation of these Historically Black Colleges and Universities and their amazing Singing Groups. The project is collaborative production of EVT Educational Productions, Inc. and JAZZ88.3FM WBGO Radio of Newark, New Jersey. The series was broadcast by over 240 public radio stations.

Extensions of the Tradition is an annual event featuring a concert of music by black composers with related exhibits and programs, co-sponsored by Indiana University's African American Arts Institute, the AAAMC, and the Jacobs School of Music. The event is documented through program booklets, flyers, photographs, and video and audio recordings.

The Fahnestock mss., 1975-1979, consists of the correspondence and translations by Lee Fahnestock of works by French author Michael Butor, 1926- .

This collection consist of the papers of attorney, author, and theater producer Donald C. Farber (19– - Present). Farber was also friend to author Kurt Vonnegut and served as his sole literary agent.

This collection consists of materials smuggled out of the Soviet Union and donated by Fedor (Feddy) Lavrov--all materials relating to his Punk rock music production studio, Begemotion Records. This collection includes physical and digitized recordings, photographs, promotional materials, lyric sheets, and album art relating to the music he produced, performed, and composed with various Soviet punk rock musicians and punk rock bands in 1980s Soviet Union, Leningrad.

Felix Oinas, a world renowned scholar in the areas of Slavic linguistics, Finno-Ugric language, literature, and folklore, was a professor of Uralic and Altaic Studies and Slavic Languages and Literatures at Indiana University from 1950 until his retirement in 1981. The collection consists of Oinas' correspondence, publications, and research on Balto-Finnic and Slavic folklore, the relation of Balto-Finnic folklore as compared to Baltic (Lithuanian and Latvian) folklore, the Estonian epic Kalevipoeg, mythology (including the study of spirits, ghosts, devils, and vampires), and the study of Slavic and Finnish etymologies.

The Felker mss., 1971-2015, consist of annotated crossword drafts, clippings, and correspondence relating to crossword creator J. A. (Josephine Ann) Felker.

The Felstiner, John mss., 1955-2011, consist of the works of writer, translator, and Stanford professor emeritus, John Felstiner (1936- ).

The Ferguson, A. Claude mss., ca. 1970–2009, consist of the correspondence, collected subject files, writings and legal records of Claude Ferguson, a career employee of the U.S. Forest Service who was instrumental in the creation of the Charles C. Deam Wilderness area, Indiana's only Federal Wilderness area, in the Hoosier National Forest.

Flyers, publications, and miscellaneous material related to the FESPACO Festival beginning in 2007.

Consists mainly of correspondence between Professor Donald Mark Fiene, 1930- and author Kurt Vonnegut, 1922- regarding current activities in both of their lives and often discussing literary affairs.

Folklore and Ethnomusicology Publications, Inc. was created in 1988 as the umbrella organization for four Indiana University Folklore Institute student publications groups. It encompasses Folklore Forum Society, Folklore Publications Group, Trickster Press, and Ethnomusicology Publications Group. This collection contains mostly articles submitted for publication in the various Folklore and Ethnomusicology publications as well as the journals produced by the different titles.

The Forker, Charles R. mss., ca. 1906-2014, consists of the papers of Charles R. Forker and his collection of microfilms and images.

The Forsyth, Frederick mss. (1960-2013) consist of the papers of author Frederick Forsyth (b. 1938).

Dr. Frank Anton Hoffmann was a PhD student in Folklore at Indiana University Bloomington from 1958 to 1968. He became a professor of English and Folklore at the State University of New York at Buffalo. This collection features Hoffmann's personal papers including correspondence, collected folklore society publications, and a photo album from the 1958 Folklore Institute.

Frank de Caro and Rosan Jordan are both folklorists who worked at Louisiana State University. They co-authored several books together. This collection includes drafts and correspondence pertaining to published works, de Caro's family history, as well as some of Jordan's teaching materials and research on Day of the Dead. Included in the collection are an extensive amount of postcards that were collected from various travels.

Consists of the personal papers of Edmondson and includes correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks, research files, publications, records related to the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), teaching files, and departmental files.

The Franzen, Cola mss., 1982-2010, consist of manuscripts, drafts, correspondence and other material relating to literary translations from the Spanish by translator Cola Franzen, 1923-2018.

The Frasier mss., 1934-2014, consist of David K. Frasier's research materials, drafts, and related correspondence for his encyclopedias of show-business homicide and suicide as well as his biography/bibliography of Russ Meyer. Also included is correspondence with and writings about serial killer John Wayne Gacy and filmmaker Kenneth Anger.

The Frielinghaus mss., ca. 1998-2001, consists of Helmut Frielinghaus' translations into German of works by Nicholson Baker, Raymond Carver, William Faulkner, and John Updike.

The Friendship Garden Club mss., 1956-2008, consists of the minutes, membership lists, and other administrative records of the Friendship Garden Club of Bloomington, Indiana.

The Friends of Liberia collection consists of educational, and government material. Within the collection there is also information about the organization, and "subject files."

The Friends of the Lilly Library mss., 1980-1998, consist of the organizational records of the auxiliary group Friends of the Lilly Library (FOLLY).

Frisch, Shelley mss., ca. 2012—, consist of the writings and translations of translator Shelly Frisch. The collection includes corrected drafts and copy edits for a biography of Kafka, translations of Sooner or Later by Husch Josten and works by Stefan Klein: Survival of the Nicest and Leonardo's Legacy.

The Fugard mss. II, ca. 1976–2002, consist chiefly of photographs, playbills, etc. relating to stage productions of plays by South African writer Athol Fugard, 1932– .

The Gallery mss., 1970-2004, consist of accounts, artists' files, and promotional material for The Gallery of Bloomington, Indiana.

The Garinger, Alan mss., 2005-2010, consists of letters sent from author James "Jim" Thom to Alan K. Garinger.

Gatenby, Greg mss., 1977-2006, consists of correspondence of Artistic Director of International Festival of Authors Harbourfront of 28 years, Greg Gatenby (b. 1950).

The Gathorne-Hardy, J., mss., 1705-2017, consist of the correspondence, family materials, journals, and manuscripts of writer Jonathan Gathorne-Hardy, 1933-2019.

Dr. George C. Hale, 1891-1948, was an Indiana native and chemist for the Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey. His research concentrated on ordnance both for military and commercial applications. The collection consists of biographical materials, correspondence, and photographs relating to Dr. Hale's education, career, and accomplishments.

Collection consists of the papers of George List (1911-2008), Professor of Folklore, Director of the Inter-American Program in Ethnomusicology (1966-1976), and Director of the Archives of Traditional Music (1954-1976) at Indiana University. His primary research interests included folk music, the traditional music of the Hopi tribes of Northern Arizona, and the music of indigenous tribes in the Caribbean regions of Colombia and the Andes and Amazon regions of Ecuador. This collection includes personal and professional correspondence, publications, research, subject files, audiovisual content, and many of his musical compositions.

George T. Engelman Jr. was a graduate from Indiana University, attending IU from 1937-1941. He worked and raised his family for a few years in Bloomington while studying for his master's degree in education in the 40s and 50s and working for RCA. He was also a WWII veteran. This collection contains his army records from 1942-1968, biographical documents from 1915-2008, correspondence, family home videos, teaching documents, and materials from his time serving in WWII such as ration stamps and Pearl Harbor Officers' Club cards.

Dr. Gerardo M. Gonzalez is Dean Emeritus and Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the Indiana University School of Education. In 1962, when Gonzalez was eleven years old, he and his family immigrated to the United States as refugees from Cuba. The first in his family to graduate from college, Gonzalez has since become a prominent academic leader in the United States and a proponent for higher education leadership, healthy campus environments, and Latino educational concerns. The papers and photos in this collection relate to Gonzalez's upbringing and his family's emigration from Cuba to the United States in the early 1960s, as well as Gonzalez' education and academic appointments. Many of the materials in this collection are reproduced or referenced in Gonzalez's 2018 memoir A Cuban Refugee's Journey to the American Dream: The Power of Education .

The German mss., ca. 16th century-2004, consist of individually acquired letters, documents, and historical and literary manuscripts written in German, relating to the history, culture, and life of Germany.

The papers of Gertrude Rivers Robinson contain music manuscripts and sketches, correspondence, press clippings, class notes and coursework, lecture materials, audio recordings, photographs, slides, films and videos documenting her life and career as a composer, ethnomusicologist and pedagogue, including her research on the Balinese gamelan tradition.

The Gest, Howard mss., ca. 1941-2011, consist of the correspondence, papers, reprints and copies of the work of Prof. Howard Gest, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of the Indiana University Department of Microbiology.

Collection consists of business records, subject files, correspondence, newspaper/magazine clippings, and speeches.

The Gold, Herbert mss., 1850-2018, consists of the correspondence of author Herbert Gold, 1924- , with Kurt Vonnegut, Tobias Wolff, and other authors.

The Goode mss., 1979-2001, consist of correspondence from historian Robert Ferrell to his former student James Goode, a retired professor of history.

The Gottfried mss. consists of Latin manuscripts and a working translation of Giovanni Della Casa's Rime by Rudolf B. Gottfried, 1909-1986, professor emeritus of English, Indiana University.

The Grenier, A. mss. consists of poetry manuscripts, personal correspondence, journals, photo albums, and other miscellaneous realia relating to the creative work of Armenian-American poet Arpine Konyalian Grenier, 1943-.

The Grossman mss., 1970–2008, consists of the correspondence and drafts of translator Edith Grossman, 1936-.

Since 1983, the Grunwald Gallery of Art, formerly the School of Fine Arts Gallery (SoFA), has presented contemporary works by both professional and student artists in a special exhibition format. The records in this collection include exhibition publicity, audio and visual materials, and photographic slides spanning 1970-2015.

The Grzimek, Martin mss., 1974-2006, consist of drafts, correspondence, and clippings relating to works by German author Martin Grzimek and their translations by Breon Mitchell.

The Habig mss., 1976-1994, consist of materials relating to Arnold F. Habig and Kimball International's manufacture of pianos.

The Halleck mss. II, 1924-2010, consist of documents, photographs, and materials by and about congressman Charles A. Halleck acquired individually from various sources.

Harold Pepinsky was Professor of Criminal Justice and Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Indiana University from 1976-2008. His writings focus on how the criminal justice system can be the cause or cure for crime and research interests include peacemaking criminology, restorative justice, violence against children, and ritual abuse. The collection consists of materials relating to his position at IU and professional interests, including correspondence, case files, publications, teaching files, awards and collected materials.

The Harris, S.M. mss., 1950-2004, consists of correspondence between businessman S. Miller Harris, 1921-2013, and author Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007.

Harris Wofford was a Democratic senator from Pennsylvania, the former CEO of the Corporation of National and Community Service (CNCS, now AmeriCorps), a civil rights advocate, university president, lawyer, and writer. This collection focuses on his work supporting national service, including his time as the CEO of CNCS.

Harry Allen Davis, Jr., Indiana artist and Herron School of Art professor, was born in Hillsboro, Indiana in 1914 and moved to Brownsburg, Indiana in 1920. In 1938, he graduated from the John Herron Art Institute and won the Prix de Rome in Painting. After studying at the American Academy in Rome and briefly teaching at Beloit College, he joined the Army in 1942 and was a combat artist in Europe in World War II. When the war was over, Davis took a position teaching drawing and painting at the Herron School of Art. There, he met Lois Irene Peterson from LaPorte, Indiana and the two married in 1947. They had two children together. Harry Davis was a professor at the Herron School of Art until his retirement in 1983. As an artist, he was known for his series of paintings featuring older American and more specifically, Hoosier, buildings and structures. Harry Davis died in 2006. The Harry and Lois Davis Papers consist mainly of Harry Davis's correspondence and exhibition files, as well as scrapbooks and news clippings about Harry and Lois Davis and about Herron faculty and alumni. Also included are a journal and travel documents from his time at the American Academy and a memoir from the war.

Collection includes articles, magazines, transcripts, lectures and interviews. Time-based media content primary pertains to his Indiana University lectures in 1998, sponsored by Archives of African American Music and Culture.

The Haymarket Books mss., 1969-2010, consist of imprints produced by publisher Haymarket Books as well as issues of the International Socialist Review.

The Höbel mss., circa 2000-2002, consist of translations from English into German of John Updike's essays by Susanne Höbel, 1953- .

The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis, Inc. is committed to improving the health of community through funding qualified agencies and organizations that provide health related services primarily to low-income population of Indianapolis. Its mission is to improve the social, physical and mental health of the community. It was originally founded in July 1968 as the Metropolitan Health Council of Indianapolis, Inc., an Indiana non-profit corporation, intended to aid uninsured Indianapolis poor who could not get medical and nursing care, an innovative and radical concept at that time. At the beginning the Council coordinated activities, raised funds and evaluated the neighborhood health centers located in the inner city. From 1974-1984, the Council developed and operated its own HMO, the MetroHealth Plan. In 1985 the Council sold the MetroHealth Plan, changed its name to the Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis, Inc., and became a funding organization. The records consist of legal and corporate records, board and committee records, meeting files, administrative and financial records, records of associated organizations, correspondence, publications, awarded grants, rejected grant proposals and photographs.

The collection consists primarily of interviews regarding ska music and musicians conducted by Heather Augustyn. Also included in the collection are interview summaries, research files and ephemera, published books and recordings, and photographic prints and slides.

The Heath-Stubbs mss. II, 1940-2000, consists of writings, correspondence, and personal materials of poet John Heath-Stubbs (1918-2006).

The Hebrew Translation Workshop mss., 1971-2006, consists of papers relating to the Hebrew Translation Workshop, which began in London in 1971 and was known initially as the "Hebrew Poetry Workshop."

The Heim mss., ca. 1975-2001, consist primarily of correspondence, in Czech, between author Milan Kundera, 1929- , and UCLA Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures, Michael Henry Heim, 1943-2012.

The Heinemann mss., 1967-2018, consist of the papers of Larry Heinemann (1944-2019), an American author known primarily for his novels about the Vietnam War.

The Helen Pope papers document the life of South Bend, Indiana resident and community activist Helen Pope (1916-2004). Helen Pope was a lifelong civil rights advocate and health care professional in the South Bend area. She was an active volunteer in many community organizations, earning several awards and distinctions for her service, including being inducted into the South Bend Hall of Fame in 1992. The collection documents her professional and service activities, as well as her personal life with her husband of over sixty years, James S. Pope.

The Henderson mss., 1975-2005, consists primarily of the papers and manuscripts of author and editor Bill Henderson, who founded the Pushcart Press and the Pushcart Prize.

Henry Glassie was a professor at the Indiana University Folklore Institute from 1970-1976 and 1988-2008, and is a renowned scholar in the field of folklore with a particular focus upon material culture and vernacular architecture. The collection consists of drafts, proofs and correspondence relating to his numerous publications and lectures as well as a few biographical items of Glassie's including awards and recordings of his oral history.

Henry H. H. Remak was hired at Indiana University-Bloomington as a full-time professor for the Department of German in 1948. He also taught for the Department of Comparative Literature, West European Studies and the Honors Division. Additionally, Remak chaired the Department of German in 1962, the Department of Comparative Literature intermittently between 1954 and 1963, as well as West European Studies from 1966-1969. He was also Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties from 1969-1974 and Director of the Institute for Advanced Study from 1988-1994 and 1997-1998. This collection consists of papers related to Remak's teaching, administrative positions, university and disciplinary service, and academic scholarship.

Before becoming president of Indiana University, Herman B Wells served as an assistant cashier at the National Bank of Lebanon before going on to work for the Indiana Bankers Association, the Indiana Commission for Financial Institutions, and the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions. He was named dean of the Indiana University School of Business administration in 1935 by IU President William Lowe Bryan. In 1937 he was named acting president of the university and president the following year, a position he held until 1962. Upon his retirement, IU created the position of University Chancellor, which Dr. Wells held until his death in 2000. This collection consists of Wells' personal papers and includes papers pertaining to his family and personal finances, his activities in the banking profession, his work in Germany for the United States government after World War II, and to his research and teaching and professional activities as a member of the faculty of Indiana University.

The Herron School of Art and Design has provided instruction in both fine and commercial art since 1902. Founded by the Art Association of Indianapolis as part of the John Herron Art Institute, the school became part of the Indiana University system in 1967 and one of the schools of IUPUI in 1969. The school's faculty, students, and alumni have won several prestigious awards and gained national recognition for their work. The school was located in buildings at 16th and Pennsylvania Streets until 2005, when it moved into Eskenazi Hall on the IUPUI campus. Records include correspondence, minutes, reports, newsletters, exhibition programs and promotional material, publications, videotapes, and glass slides.

The Hill, A. mss., ca. 1886-2004, consist of correspondence, journal fragments, legal and financial documents, clippings, photos, and account books of Lady Anne Hill (1911–2006), author, public figure, and wife of prominent bookseller G. Heywood Hill.

The Hill, Claudia mss., circa 1935-2005, consists of original artwork and related material collected by Claudia Hill of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

This collection consists of the papers of Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, former Life President of Malawi, and those of his official biographer, Dr. Donald Brody, dating mostly from the 1950s to the 1990s. Additional materials collected by Paula Brody were later added to the collection.

The Hochman mss., 1956-2008, consists of the correspondence, scripts, drafts, films and other related material of poet and novelist Sandra Hochman.

The Hoggard mss., 1961-2021, consist of the papers of poet, author, and translator James Hoggard (1941-2021).

The Hopkins, Edwin mss. consists of four unpublished plays by author and translator Edwin S. Hopkins, 1876-.

Collection documenting the AAAMC's 2014 panel discussion and exhibit, Hot Buttered Soul: The Role of Foodways & Musicmaking in Building and Sustaining African American Communities, which explored the intersections between sacred and secular music genres and traditional foodways as signifiers of African American life and culture. Featured panelists include Dr. Psyche Williams-Forson, Dr. Tyron Cooper, Dr. Alisha Lola Jones, and Dr. Mellonee Burnim. Includes audio, video, image, and research files.

Howard Mehlinger served as a professor within the School of Education from 1965 until his retirement in 1997, at which time he was granted the title Professor Emeritus of Education. During his tenure at IU he served in two major administrative positions: Dean of the School of Education from 1981 to 1989 and as Director for the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) from 1993 to 1999. His major research foci included: issues involving Soviet-United States education and globalization, technology's role in the classroom, and high school social studies education. The content of this collection consists of papers documenting various IU and personal research initiatives, projects, and consulting positions; publications and speaking engagements; professional files; syllabi, reading lists, and documents for various courses, workshops, and seminars he taught at both IU and Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Kansas; and personal, professional, and institutional correspondence.

Howard Gest was a professor of Microbiology and an adjunct professor of History and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University who specialized in microbial psychology and metabolism. The collection consists of Gest's published work, research notes, correspondence and his teaching and lecturing notes during his tenure at Indiana University.

The Allen Hughes mss., 1921-2009, consists of the papers of New York Times music critic Allen Hughes, 1921-2009.

Previously called the Personnel Division or Office of Personnel Services, Human Resources Administration reports to the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance. Records include correspondence, reports, personnel policies, publications, and other materials.

The Hurt mss., 1933-2002, consist of scrapbooks relating to the political, legal, and military careers of attorney John E. Hurt.

The Hutchins mss., 1972-2002, consists of the manuscripts and proofs of translations from the Arabic made by translator William Maynard Hutchins, 1944-.

Iliya Harik was Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Indiana University Bloomington whose research and academic activities centered on Middle Eastern and comparative politics, government, and development. This collection contains a broad range of material related to Harik's academic research and teaching activities and personal life, including articles, drafts, correspondence, research proposals and notes, reports, course syllabi, and lecture notes and audio recordings.
