The Lizzani, Carlo mss., 1941-2010, consists of the writings, photographs, scripts, audio-visual materials, correspondence, awards, newspaper and periodical articles, and unpublished diary of Italian filmmaker Carlo Lizzani, 1922-2013.

Junior Achievement, Inc. (JA) was founded in 1919 as the Boys' and Girls' Bureau of the Eastern States League. Embracing the concept of "learning by doing," the leaders of the Bureau dedicated themselves to teaching urban youth proper business practice and methods. They accomplished this through hands-on training in management and production. For much of its history, JA used one program to teach business to high school students. Beginning in the 1970s, JA started to expand its programs to include Kindergarten, Middle School, and college students. Over the last 20 years, the programs of JA have changed immensely. While the face of JA has changed, the mission of teaching youth about business remains at the core of Junior Achievement. Today, JA continues to be one of the most influential business education organizations worldwide

The Kessler mss., 1966-2018, consists primarily of manuscripts, drafts, correspondence and other material reflecting the creative life of Stephen Kessler (b. 1947), poet, translator, essayist and editor.

The Williams, Diane mss., ca. 1986-2008, include the correspondence, papers, and drafts of American short story writer, Diane Williams.

The English Department records span more than a century, from 1886 to 2012. The collection consists of correspondence between the acting chairman and English faculty members at IU and other institutions in the United States as well as students. The administrative files contain memos, correspondence with IU English faculty and regional campuses, reports pertaining to department committees, programs, courses, publications, other activities that concerned the development and growth of the Department. The publications files contain journals and other published material relating to Bloomington's English department.

The Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts at Indiana University South Bend is home to five academic departments offering bachelor's and master's degrees: Communication Studies, Fine Arts, Music, Integrated New Media Studies, and Theatre and Dance. This collection includes paper records documenting the administrative functions of the school; biographical files about faculty and staff; publications by and related to the school, including Aspire Magazine, IU South Bend's arts magazine; photographs of theatrical performances; newspaper articles and press releases; event programs and posters; and an extensive collection of audio and video recordings of performances hosted by the school.

The Jay mss. III, 1984-2018, consist of correspondence, scripts, and production materials from playwright and filmmaker David Mamet (b. 1947) to his friend and collaborator, magician Ricky Jay (1946-2018).

The Board of Aeons was established on March 29, 1921 to function as a link between the student body and the administration. It is composed of 8 to 12 students of at least junior standing and meets regularly but informally once or twice a week with the President, Vice-President, Chancellor or other administrative officials. The Board of Aeons records include minutes, agendas, reports, correspondence, and officers' notebooks.

The Heinemann mss., 1967-2018, consist of the papers of Larry Heinemann (1944-2019), an American author known primarily for his novels about the Vietnam War.

The Organization of American Historians (OAH) was founded in 1907 under the name the Mississippi Valley Historical Association (MVHA). The founders created a historical organization that encouraged research and study of the area that made up the Mississippi Valley. In 1913 it began to sponsor a scholarly journal, The Mississippi Valley Historical Review. The organization eventually outgrew its brand name as a regional association by gaining members throughout the country. The organization officially changed its name to the Organization of American Historians in 1965. Today, the OAH is a national organization with a worldwide membership promoting American history research.

Indiana University's Wright Quadrangle is a residence center that was constructed after the post-WWII enrollment boon, opening in 1949. The collection contains administrative files pertaining to training and policy/protocol for resident assistants, room renovations and damages, and closing reports. Additionally, the student publications series contains newspapers created by residents of various "houses" or units.

The Indiana School of Religion was established in 1910 to provide and promote Biblical and religious education to student who attended Indiana University. When IU established its own Religious Studies program in 1965, the School struggled until 1970 when it closed its doors and its assets were transferred to the IU program. This allowed the program to become an established department and it is now known as one of the oldest and most prominent in the country. This collection contains the records of the Department organized into four series: Administrative files, Committees, Correspondence, and Publications.

Harris Wofford was a Democratic senator from Pennsylvania, the former CEO of the Corporation of National and Community Service (CNCS, now AmeriCorps), a civil rights advocate, university president, lawyer, and writer. This collection focuses on his work supporting national service, including his time as the CEO of CNCS.

The groundbreaking feminist scholar and literary critic, Susan Gubar, began teaching at Indiana University in 1973 and retired as Distinguished Professor Emerita of English in 2010. This collection contains teaching and research material; material related to professional activities such as conferences, workshops, and committees; an extensive collection of news clippings with reviews and interviews; Gubar's publications and information related to the development of those publications, and both personal and professional correspondence.

The League of Women Voters mss., 1913-2014, consist of the records of the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Monroe County, Indiana.

The Indiana University Physical Plant was the central department for university buildings and grounds upkeep from 1959-2015. Prior to 1959 the Physical Plant was part of the Department of Buildings and Grounds. In 2015 the Physical Plant was renamed Facility Operations. This collection includes annual reports and newsletters issued by the department from 1938-2007.

Noble of Indiana is a non-profit organization founded in 1953 to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their loved ones. Originally conceived as a school for children with developmental disabilities left out of Indiana's public school system, the organization now provides a wide range of community-based social services, including ABA counseling, early childhood intervention programs, supported employment opportunities, advocacy, and socialization opportunities for its clients.

The Office of Afro-American Affairs was established in the spring of 1968. Its purpose was to organize some of the social and academic activities of African American students at Indiana University. The collection is comprised of two series, Administrative and Information. The Administrative series spans 1950-1998 and is further organized in eight subseries, including Correspondence, Faculty and Student Information, and Proposals. The Information series spans 1972-1997 and is arranged chronologically. This series consists of information not initially generated by the Office of African American Affairs such as newspaper clippings and IU News Releases.

The National Council on Public History (NCPH) was formed in 1979 to meet the needs of historians practicing history outside the traditional realms of academia. The NCPH acts as a mechanism for bringing this diverse group of professionals together through programs; a scholarly journal, The Public Historian; workshops and seminars; and an annual conference. A membership organization, governed by a board of directors and operated by an executive secretary, the NCPH continues to serve a diverse audience. This collection contains correspondence, minutes, reports, papers, publications, and audio tapes.

Leslie Lenkowsky is the former CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and professor emeritus of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IU Bloomington and of the Lilly School of Philanthropy at IUPUI. Lenkowsky taught on topics including nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, social entrepreneurship, civil society, and public policy. He has written articles for national publications like The Wall Street Journal and has spoken worldwide about philanthropy. The Leslie Lenkowsky Papers consist of Lenkowsky's records from his involvement with the Corporation for National and Community Service, both before and during his time as CEO. It includes board meeting minutes, reports on CNCS and its programs, congressional and legislative records, correspondence, articles, and programs records.

The collection consists of periodicals, ranging in date from 1964 to 1999, each of which contains an article by and/or about the American author Kurt Vonnegut.

Edward Grant, a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History and History and Philosophy of Science taught at Indiana University for over thirty years. This collection consists of 24.6 cubic of Edward Grant's papers. Consists of correspondence, research, drafts, publications, and course and lecture notes. By far the largest series in the collection is the Teaching series and includes materials from Grant's years teaching as a graduate student at the Univ. of Wisconsin and then later at Indiana. The bulk of the series, though, consists of folders relating to the courses he taught in the IU Dept. of History and Philosophy of Science. The Publications series contains information on many of Grant's publications, including his books Much ado about nothing and Source book in medieval science.

The Sadlier, Darlene J. mss., 1946-2013, consist of the audiovisual material, journals, and the published works of Darlene J. Sadlier, a professor for the Indiana University Bloomington Department of Spanish and Portuguese since 1978 and the current director of the Portuguese Program.

Trudy Banta is an educator and administrator in the field of higher education outcomes assessment. She retired from her position as Professor of Higher Education and Student Affairs and the Senior Advisor to the Chancellor for Academic Planning and Evaluation at IUPUI in 2016. Banta spent her career as a leader in higher education assessment, authoring numerous books and journal articles, consulting at campuses all over the country, and developing and coordinating 45 national and international conferences. The Trudy W. Banta Papers consists mainly of Banta's records from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and IUPUI. It includes reports, conference papers, and articles that Banta authored or co-authored; workbooks, brochures, and notes from conferences she attended or at which she presented; and records of her consulting work at campuses around the country.

The collection consists primarily of materials related to the gospel musicals Mama, I Want to Sing; Mama, I Want to Sing II; and Born to Sing! Mama 3. It includes scripts, programs, promotional materials, posters, photographs, videos, and sound recordings. Records of the Mama Foundation include programs, press clippings, publicity, and posters.

The Indiana University Department of Spanish and Portuguese offers courses and degrees in both Spanish and Portuguese for graduate and undergraduate students. This collection covers a variety of administrative records including minutes, department reviews and plans, faculty information, department event information, and the visit of Ernesto Cardenal.

In 1953, Warren Everett Roberts became the first person to earn a PhD in Folklore in the United States. He taught at Indiana University from 1949-1994 and was one of the founders of the study of American "folklife" and material culture. The collection represents Roberts' research of vernacular architecture and regional survey of material culture and craftsmanship, particularly in southern Indiana. Collection consists of research files, teaching files, photographs, photographic negatives and slides, publications, and correspondence.

Waldemar A. Nielsen (1917-2005) was widely recognized for his expertise in and analysis of charitable foundations. Nielsen worked in government and the nonprofit sector before establishing a consulting agency, Waldemar A. Nielsen, Incorporated, which focused on corporate social policy. Nielsen is best known for his writing on the biggest foundations within the American philanthropic world. Through publications like The Big Foundations (1972) and The Golden Donors (1985), Nielsen examined the foundations' methods and their effectiveness. The Waldemar A. Nielsen Papers consists of Nielsen's research, notes, and drafts for the books and articles published over the course of his career. The collection also contains correspondence, reports, and publications from Nielsen's time working for the government, the Ford Foundation, the African-American Institute, and from his years as a consultant.

The Solt mss. II, 1912-2021, consists of the papers of concrete poet and scholar Mary Ellen Solt, 1920–2007.

Initially founded in 1970 as the Indiana University Division of Continuing Education, the School of Continuing Studies was established in 1975 to offer opportunities in education for students who were unable to attend traditional formal university programs. Collection includes correspondence, subject files, catalogs, reports, marketing information, and financial records.

The Irving mss, 1966-2012, consist of manuscripts, typescripts, and material of novelist and screenwriter John Irving (b. 1942), as well as correspondence and printed matter relating to his career.

Peter Dobkin Hall was a historian of American philanthropy, who held appointments at Wesleyan (1974-1982), Yale (1973-1999), and Harvard (2000 until death), and was Scholar in Residence at the Rockefeller Archive Center in 1989. He was extensively published in philanthropy but it probably best known for his book "'Inventing the Nonprofit Sector' and Other Essays on Philanthropy, Voluntarism, and Nonprofit Organizations."

David James was involved in the activist and music scenes in and around South Bend, Indiana, for most of the forty years that he lived in the community. A constant champion of civil rights, labor rights, and unions; a constant advocate for peace and protestor against war, David James spent much of his life actively fighting for the issues he believes in while performing and promoting the folk music he loved.

The Young, C. mss., 1935-2014, consist of the writings, correspondence, research materials, and personal papers of journalist and activist Charles M. Young.

The Mystery Writers of America mss., 1945-2019, consist of the records and correspondence of the Mystery Writers of America, Inc., the leading association for professional crime writers in the United States.

The DuVal, John mss., ca. 1975-2016, consists of correspondence, notes, newspaper clippings, drafts, typescripts, poetry, and translations relating to the publications of John Tabb DuVal (1940- ), especially his translation of The Song of Roland. Also includes materials about John Duval and his daughter Kathleen Duval's "Interpreting a Continent: Voices from Colonial America" (2009), and includes texts translated from French and Spanish. Other parts of this collection in order of publication include Cuckolds, Clerics, and Countrymen: Medieval French Fabliaux (1982), From Adam to Adam: Seven Old French Plays (2005), and Fabliaux, Fair and Foul (2008).

The Collins mss., ca. 1926-2001, consists of the correspondence, writings, photographs, albums and chess club records of influential American chess teacher John William (Jack) Collins, 1912-2001.

John B. Patton was a member of the faculty of the Geology Department at Indiana University from 1947-1986. In 1959 he became State Geologist, director of the Indiana Geological Survey, and chairman of the IU geology department. He served as department chair for 12 years and as State Geologist and director of the Geological Survey until his retirement in 1986. The John B. Patton papers span the period from 1945 to 1988 and consist primarily files related to his speeches, lectures and presentations, manuscripts, published works, as well as records Patton created while serving on various committees both within and outside of Indiana University.

The American Forum for Global Education (1986-2008) was a nonprofit organization created through the merger of Global Perspectives in Education, Inc. (1976-1986), which was a former branch of the Center for War/Peace Studies of the New York Friends Group, and the National Council on Foreign Language and International Studies. The American Forum for Global Education provided professional development, curriculum materials, lesson plans, and resources to educators for teaching students about global/international history, culture and sociopolitical issues. This collection is predominantly comprised of publications of the American Forum for Global Education and its predecessor organizations.

A. Peter Brown served as a member of the musicology faculty at the Indiana University School of Music from 1974 until his death in 2003. Brown's name is most closely associated with that of the composer Josef Haydn, on whom Brown wrote and co-authored no less than four books, as well as the critical score for Haydn's Die Schöpfung. Representing the whole of his scholarly career, this collection includes materials from Brown's time as a doctoral student, and as a scholar and teacher, comprised of correspondence, teaching files, grants materials, and research and writing files. Brown's research files make up the bulk of the collection.

Consists of the papers of Mrs. Virginia (Scott) Miner (Mrs. Dewey Hobson Miner), 1901-1982, poet.

The Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance originated in the Department of Speech beginning in 1945. The Department offers courses and degrees in theatre, drama, and contemporary dance. This collection contains administrative records from before and after the Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance had split from the Department of Speech. It also contains records and production materials from the University Theatre, Brown County Playhouse, Indiana Theatre Company, and IU Theatre Circle.

In 1914, the Bureau of Public Discussion was established as a part of the Extension Division of Indiana University to provide information on and to stimulate the intelligent discussion of current political, economic and social questions within the state. The collection consists of records from Robert Hattery's tenure as Director of the Bureau and includes correspondence, records related to Bureau programs, brochures, reports, administrative files, financial records, and course files.

The Meltzer mss., 1954-1974, consists of the correspondence and writings of Lionel David Meltzer, 1937- , poet.

Margaret I. Rufsvold came to Indiana University in 1938 to help develop a library science curriculum. In 1947 she was asked to serve as the director of the Division of Library Science, which was then part of the School of Education. In 1966, she was named dean of the newly created Graduate Library School, a position she held for two months before resigning from administrative duties. Rufsvold retired with the title of Professor Emeritus in 1973. The Margaret I. Rufsvold papers consist of correspondence, research files, reports, committee files, teaching files, speeches, Rufsvold's records relating to positions held as a consultant, and publications which document the professional activities of Rufsvold in state and national organizations, as well as in organizations and departments relating to Indiana University. Prominent in the collection are papers relating to her involvement with both Indiana and national library organizations such as the Indiana Library Association, the Indiana School Librarians Association, and the American Library Association. The ALA files are varied, but her work on their Committee on Accreditation and the American Association of School Librarians Committee are most prominent.

The Kael mss., ca. 1939-2001, consists of the papers and correspondence of film critic and author Pauline Kael, 1919-2001.

The Bogdanovich mss., 1885-1994, consists of the papers, scripts, correspondence, business records, production materials, and films of director, actor, screenwriter, producer, critic and author Peter Bogdanovich, 1939-.

Roger Wilkinson was an Indiana University professor of physics from 1946-1968. Collection consists of correspondence, publications, lecture notes, and laboratory reports. The lecture notes included in the collection are from both Wilkinson's tenure as a professor as well as notes he took as a student at the University of Chicago. The Publication series consists of reprints of articles authored or co-authored by Wilkinson, 1951-1968.

The Lockhart, R. mss., 1906-1969, consist of the correspondence, writings and memorabilia of Sir Robert Hamilton Bruce Lockhart, 1887-1970, diplomat and writer.

The Indiana University Office of Publications is one of the oldest non-academic offices on campus. Its records date primarily from the tenure of Ivy Leone Chamness, who served as Head Editor of University Publications from 1917-1952. Collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, and newspaper clippings. Prominent in the collection are edited manuscripts of the two volume History of Indiana University written by Burton Dorr Myers and James A. Woodburn.

Thompson, S. mss., 1911-1976, consists of the papers of Stith Thompson, 1885-1976, including correspondence; writings by Thompson; biographical and autobiographical materials such as travel files and diaries; materials relating to professional societies and conferences to which he belonged and attended; and family genealogies on which he worked over the years.

The Gilder mss., 1781-1984 consists of correspondence and papers of poet, editor Richard Watson Gilder and his wife, the artist Helena de Kay Gilder, and their family.

The Spectator began its existence as a weekly student newspaper in January 1966, when it was recognized as a registered Indiana University organization by the I.U. Board of Student Publications. This charter was revoked by the university administration in 1968, but the paper remained in publication as an independent paper in Bloomington, Indiana until 1970. The collection consists of records of the Spectator organized in five series: operational, financial, correspondence, submissions, and newspaper issues.

Thomas Ehrlich served as the 15th president of Indiana University, from 1987 to 1994. He graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Law School, serving in several legal and academic posts before his appointment as IU president. The collection consists of administrative files and correspondence related to the performance of duties as IU president.

The Zarifopol-Johnston mss., 1988-2008, consists of translator Ilinca Zarifopol-Johnston's research and writings on the Romanian philosopher E. M. Cioran.

IUPUI administrators created the IUPUI Task Force on the Status of Women Faculty in 1994 to investigate how women were appointed and promoted on the campus and to assess the campus climate for women's success. The task force recommended in 1996 the creation of a campus office to facilitate improvements on the IUPUI campus for women. Administrators created the IUPUI Office for Women (OFW) in October, 1996, with the goal to improve the campus environment for women faculty, staff, and students. The director of OFW also serves as chair of the newly created IUPUI Commission on Women to develop opportunities and improve equity and the campus envirnment for women. Records include minutes, correspondence, reports, and publications.

The Red Dust mss., 1963–2010, consists of the papers and business records of Red Dust Inc., including manuscript drafts and proofs, correspondence with authors and translators, and additional book production materials.

American City Bureau, a fundraising consulting firm, works with not for profit organizations to design and run fund raising campaigns. Established in 1913 by Edgar and Harold Buttenheim, the company merged with Beaver and Associates in 1963. The firm has worked on capital campaigns on the national and local level. American City Bureau has been instrumental in developing campaigns for organizations such as the Young Men's Christian Association,(YMCA), the Young Women's Christian Association, (YWCA), United Fund, and the Salvation Army. The records detail the fund raising efforts and campaigns of the American City Bureau and its predecessor origins. It consists of 4 page reports of campaigns from Howard T. Beaver Associates, (later Beaver and Associates) from 1936-1963, campaign information from American City Bureau from 1944 -1995, conference addresses and programs, from 1938-1978, promotional materials and publications from 1919- 1973, and their newsletter, Bureau News from 1920-1976.

The Sipper mss., 1973-2010, consists of the correspondence and business records of Ralph Bruno Sipper, 1932-, an antiquarian bookseller specializing in modern first editions.

The Bobbs-Merrill mss., 1885-1983, consists of the records of book publisher Bobbs-Merrill Company, Inc., located in Indianapolis, IN.

The Slocum mss., 1955-2012, consists of the papers of Jerry Slocum, 1931-, and the Slocum Puzzle Foundation.

The Welles mss., 1930-1950 (bulk 1936-1947), consists of the correspondence, papers, and memorabilia of actor, writer, producer, and director Orson Welles 1915-1985.

The Indianapolis Foundation was created in 1916 by the resolution of three financial institutions, the Fletcher Trust Company, Indiana Trust Company, and Union Trust Company. It was officially introduced as one of the first community foundations in the United States in the January 5, 1916, edition of the Indianapolis Star. According to the resolution, income from the Indianapolis Foundation would "be dispersed by said companies on the written order of a board of trustees for such charitable uses as well in its judgment promote the welfare of persons now or hereafter residing in Indianapolis, Indiana." The foundation began making grants in 1924 and today continues to give to Indianapolis organizations to help improve the quality of life in the city.

Myles Brand served as the sixteenth president of Indiana University from 1994 to 2002. Collection consists of records from his tenure and includes administrative files and correspondence related to his role as Indiana University President.

The Indiana University School of Medicine emerged from a number of private, proprietary medical schools that existed in Indianapolis in the nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. The most important of these private medical schools were the Medical College of Indiana and the College of Physicians and Surgeons, both of which operated in Indianapolis. In the first decade of the twentieth century efforts began to try to merge these private schools under the state universities then in Indiana, Purdue University and Indiana University. The merger of several medical schools under Purdue University was short-lived. In 1903 Indiana University established first year (classroom) medical studies at Bloomington, and in 1907 merged with the Medical College of Indiana and the remnant of the Purdue medical school to establish clinical instruction in Indianapolis. In subsequent years the School of Medicine was housed in Indianapolis on a large campus with several hospitals, clinical, and research facilities. First year medical studies were moved to Indianapolis by the 1950s.

The Fainlight mss., 1935-1982 [bulk circa. 1950-1982], consist of the papers of poet, Harry Fainlight, 1935-1982. The collection also includes correspondence of his sister, Ruth Fainlight, regarding Harry Fainlight written during and after his lifetime, as well as materials about him that she gathered and created after his death.

Consists of the papers of translator and author, Suzanne Jill Levine.

Production materials documenting Smithsonian's thirteen-part program on the role of radio in transforming the African American community in the twentieth century. The program was produced in 1996 by Jacquie Gales Webb for Smithsonian Productions, with assistance from the AAAMC. The collection contains over 400 hours of interviews and historical aircheck tapes in addition to articles, research files, program scripts, and transcripts. The audio interviews feature conversations with over 150 well-known disc jockeys, radio professionals, record company executives, journalists, and scholars. The historical airchecks include station identifications and jingles, radio interviews with prominent Black figures, coverage of historical events, and programs highlighting or influenced by the contributions of Black performers, disc jockeys, and other important persons in radio.

Before becoming president of Indiana University, Herman B Wells served as an assistant cashier at the National Bank of Lebanon before going on to work for the Indiana Bankers Association, the Indiana Commission for Financial Institutions, and the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions. He was named dean of the Indiana University School of Business administration in 1935 by IU President William Lowe Bryan. In 1937 he was named acting president of the university and president the following year, a position he held until 1962. Upon his retirement, IU created the position of University Chancellor, which Dr. Wells held until his death in 2000. This collection consists of Wells' personal papers and includes papers pertaining to his family and personal finances, his activities in the banking profession, his work in Germany for the United States government after World War II, and to his research and teaching and professional activities as a member of the faculty of Indiana University.

This collection documents Dr. Teresa Hairston's work in the gospel music industry from the late 1980s into the early twenty-first century and consists of materials related to the publication of her gospel music magazines Score, Gospel Today, and Gospel Industry Today as well as events and television programs produced by Dr. Hairston. Included are publicity materials, photographs, press kits, magazines, correspondence, business records, and time-based media in both published and unpublished audio and video formats.

The Miller E. Gamble mss., 1962-2007, consists primarily of manuscripts, drafts, correspondence and other material relating to translations into English from the Spanish, mostly of Latin American authors, made by Elizabeth Gamble Miller over the course of her career.

The Elkin Mathews, Ltd. mss., ca. 1919-1987, consists of the correspondence and business papers of Elkin Mathews, firm, booksellers, as well as the personal papers of Percival Horace Muir, 1894-1979, bookseller and author.

The Knapik mss., 1936-1979, consists of the papers of musician Harold L. Knapik, 1916-1976, and his wife Virginia Knapik, 1911-1975.

James King's career as an operatic singer spanned a period of over three decades beginning in the 1960s and continuing until 2000. King began his career as a baritone, but later retrained to become a tenor. Performing throughout Europe and the United States, he was renowned for specializing in the operas of Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. In 1984 he joined the faculty of Indiana University as a professor of voice in the School of Music, where he remained until 2002. Collection contains clippings, programs, posters, music, correspondence, recordings, photographs, and notebooks all relating primarily to his professional career as an opera singer.

Consists of radio scripts collected by psychologist William Wokoun, 1931-1984. The scripts are mostly for NBC-affiliated, Chicago-based programs and were collected by Wokoun when he worked part-time at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago as a high school and college student.

Robert A. Miller served as the Director of Libraries at Indiana University from March 1942 to August 1972. Under his administration, the Lilly Library and Main Library [now Herman B Wells Library] were built. Miller had a significant impact upon the design of both libraries, completely designing the interior of the Lilly. The collection consists of administrative records and correspondence related to Miller's tenure as director.

Henry H. H. Remak was hired at Indiana University-Bloomington as a full-time professor for the Department of German in 1948. He also taught for the Department of Comparative Literature, West European Studies and the Honors Division. Additionally, Remak chaired the Department of German in 1962, the Department of Comparative Literature intermittently between 1954 and 1963, as well as West European Studies from 1966-1969. He was also Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties from 1969-1974 and Director of the Institute for Advanced Study from 1988-1994 and 1997-1998. This collection consists of papers related to Remak's teaching, administrative positions, university and disciplinary service, and academic scholarship.

The Heiden mss., ca. 1922-1998, consist of the of the music manuscripts, sketches, pencil scores and ink manuscripts, programs, clippings, and professional and personal correspondence of Bernhard Heiden (1910-2000) and his wife, Cola de Joncheere (1910-1999).

The Whitman mss., 1846-1878, consist of correspondence of Mrs. Sarah Helen (Power) Whitman, 1803-1878.

The Indiana Literacy Foundation (ILF) was established in February of 1993, in Indianapolis, Indiana and operated for twelve years until it shut down in January of 2005, citing lack of financial sustainability. The organization, consisting primarily of its board members, worked to provide funds for voluntary literacy programs throughout the state of Indiana while simultaneously operating programs designed to increase awareness of adult literacy concerns and directly provide training for literacy tutors.

The collection consists of the press files and a few political files of former Indiana Governor and U.S. Senator Evan Bayh, including extensive files on the "Capital for a Day" program and clippings from local and national publications about Evan Bayh. There is also a large compilation of videotapes and other audio visual materials, such as cassette tapes and photo albums.

Herman B Wells served as President of Indiana University 1938-1962. Consists of speeches given by Herman B Wells during his term as President of Indiana University, including 1937, when he served as interim President.

The Harvey mss., 1928-2002, consists of the papers of film editor and director Anthony Harvey, 1930-2017.

Carleton T. Hodge, a professor of linguistics and anthropology, served in various teaching and administrative positions at Indiana University from 1964-1983. Notable are his work in the Intensive Language Training Center, the Research Center for Language Studies, and the African Studies Program. The Carleton T. Hodge papers primarily consists of personal correspondence and a small amount of administrative records from his work with the Research Center for Language Studies and the African Studies Program, including newsletters, reports, and proposals.

Richard Bauman taught in the Indiana University Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology from 1986 until his retirement in 2008. The Bauman papers consist of his teaching materials, awards, publications, conference contributions, research projects, fieldwork materials, correspondence, and student recommendations.

Consists of documentation of the movement to lower the voting age to 18 culminating in ratification of the 26th Amendment to the Constitution in 1971 and of retrospective interviews and discussions of the movement by those who participated in it.

Richard G. Lugar (1932-2019) represented Indiana in the United States Senate from 1977 to 2012. Prior to being elected to the Senate, Lugar served two terms as Mayor of Indianapolis, from 1968 to 1976. The Awards and Memorabilia series contains two- and three-dimensional objects presented to or collected by Richard G. Lugar to commemorate his major activities and accomplishments from before, during, and after his tenure as a United States Senator. The collection contains items such as campaign memorabilia, political cartoons and posters, plaques, trophies, items of clothing, pieces of dismantled nuclear weapons, and other materials.

The Helen Pope papers document the life of South Bend, Indiana resident and community activist Helen Pope (1916-2004). Helen Pope was a lifelong civil rights advocate and health care professional in the South Bend area. She was an active volunteer in many community organizations, earning several awards and distinctions for her service, including being inducted into the South Bend Hall of Fame in 1992. The collection documents her professional and service activities, as well as her personal life with her husband of over sixty years, James S. Pope.

This collection contains documents related to South Bend, Indiana attorney David W. Albert's involvement as the legal representative for Brookins, et al. in the lawsuit of Brookins v. South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC) starting in 1980. The Brookins party alleged that the SBCSC and its representatives had engaged in various acts of discrimination with the intent and effect of segregating students and faculty on the basis of race in the South Bend, Indiana public school system. After the SBCSC decided on a desegregation plan, the Brookins party argued in court that the proposed plan would involve closing schools in the system that were racially integrated or could be easily integrated, therefore working against the goal of desegregation. The collection includes legal documents from the proceedings of the case itself; research files utilized by Albert to gather and present statistics and data about racial distribution within the South Bend community and schools in the SBCSC; and research into legal precedent established by prior cases related to school desegregation. The collection also includes minutes from SBCSC Board of Trustees meetings from 1977-1987 and documents related to the SBCSC Community Advisory Committee that was formed to provide community input on the formation of the desegregation plan, including Albert's participation in the Facilities Subcommittee in the early 1980s.

The University of Islamabad project focused on establishing a residential postgraduate university with an emphasis on advanced teaching and research in science and technology in Islamabad, Pakistan. This project was funded by the Ford Foundation and administered by the Office of the Dean of Research and Advanced Studies. The project began in 1966 and ended in the 1970s, upon completion of the construction of a new campus, the end of a faculty recruitment campaign, and the development of Master's and Doctorate programs in the sciences. The collection contains files related to the creation and development of the university, blueprints for new buildings, and a series of materials from similar programs used as reference for this and other international programs administered by Indiana University.

Herman B Wells served as president of Indiana University from 1937 through 1962 and University Chancellor from 1962 through 2000. In 1964, Wells occupied the house on the corner of 10th Street and Jordan Avenue in Bloomington now known as the Herman B Wells House. This collection contains handwritten and typed recipes and related items that were collected by Wells and individuals employed at the Wells House, including recipes for desserts, appetizers, main and side dishes, salads, and condiments.
