The Research Center for Language and Semiotic Studies (RCLSS) was initially founded by Herman B Wells in 1955 as the Research Center for Anthropology, Folklore, and Linguistics; it was renamed the Research Center for Language and Semiotic Studies in 1975. RCLSS evolved and grew rapidly under the direction of Thomas A. Sebeok, who served as Chairperson from 1956 through his retirement in 1991. The Center's primary functions included research, publishing, teaching, and the advancement of institutional connections in the interdisciplinary field of semiotics. This collection contains administrative records, student files, undergraduate and graduate curriculum development materials, committee reports and records, course files, and issues of the RCLSS in-house periodical Language Sciences.

The Bruner Foundation was founded in 1963 using funds donated by Rudy and Martha Bruner. The foundation began with the purpose of aiding programs in health care and preventive medicine, and programs focused on Jewish concerns. Since the 1980s, the Bruner Foundation has broadened its purpose to include educational programs, evaluation of grant programs, and urban renovation. Today, the main activity of the foundation is the Rudy Bruner Award for Excellence in the Urban Environment, given every two years. The records consist mainly of the Bruner Foundation's activities since 1965. These documents include board minutes, grant records, educational programs, correspondence, conference proceedings, and the records of the Rudy Bruner Award for Excellence in the Urban Environment.

The Groups Student Support Services program was established in 1968 with the goal of addressing low college attendance rates among first-generation, low-income, and physically challenged students at Indiana University. The program is still a functioning part of Indiana University and as of 2022 has enabled more than 13,000 first-generation, underrepresented students to attend Indiana University. The collection is comprised of organizational documents, financial records, data and reports, as well as subject files pertaining to related programs, events, and initiatives. Also included in the collection are audiovisual material, realia, and photographs.

Black Radio : Telling It Like It Was, circa 1920s-1997, bulk 1991-1995

Production materials documenting Smithsonian's thirteen-part program on the role of radio in transforming the African American community in the twentieth century. The program was produced in 1996 by Jacquie Gales Webb for Smithsonian Productions, with assistance from the AAAMC. The collection contains over 400 hours of interviews and historical aircheck tapes in addition to articles, research files, program scripts, and transcripts. The audio interviews feature conversations with over 150 well-known disc jockeys, radio professionals, record company executives, journalists, and scholars. The historical airchecks include station identifications and jingles, radio interviews with prominent Black figures, coverage of historical events, and programs highlighting or influenced by the contributions of Black performers, disc jockeys, and other important persons in radio.

Collection consists of records created or collected by the Indiana University Office of the President during Elvis Stahr's tenure, and includes correspondence, studies, and reports documenting the various administrative processes, committees, events and university departments and schools during this period.

The first President of what was then Indiana College was elected by the Board of Trustees in 1829. William Lowe Bryan served as president of Indiana University 1902-1937. Collection consists almost entirely of incoming correspondence from Bryan's early presidency, 1902-1913. The files are arranged alphabetically, most often by the name of the individual writing to the university, but also by subject or by name of the institution or department. Approximately half of the correspondence is addressed to Bryan while the remaining half is addressed to other high ranking IU administrators such as Registrar John W. Cravens or University Secretary Ulysses Howe Smith.

Denis Sinor was a faculty member of Indiana University in the Uralic and Altaic Program (now the Department of Central Eurasian Studies) from 1962 to 2011. Sinor founded the Department of Uralic and Altaic Studies in 1965 and the Asian Studies Research Institute for Inner Asian Studies (now the Sinor Research Institute for Inner Asian Studies [RIFIAS]), both of which he served as director for until his retirement from IU in 1986. He was active in many organizations during his tenure at Indiana University, most significantly the Journal of Asian History (JAH), Permanent International Altaistic Conference (PIAC), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and National Defense Education Act (NDEA). This collection consists of Sinor's correspondence with various organizations, IU, and personal contacts.

Henry B. Veatch, Jr. was a Professor of Philosophy at IU from 1937-1965. Collection consists of his personal papers and writings on such topics as Aristotle, natural law, metaphysics, and ethics. There are five series: Correspondence, 1941-1997, containing correspondence to and from colleagues; Speaking engagements, 1971-1988, containing copies of his public lectures and addresses; Class notes, 1966-1984, containing class lectures, handouts, reading lists, and exams; St. Meinrad group, 1985-1996, containing notes, correspondence, and papers of discussion group formed by Veatch and colleagues; and Writings by or about Veatch, 1941-1993, containing typescripts and publications by Veatch and also reviews of three of Veatch's books.

Founded in 1972, the Program for Advanced Studies in Institution Building and Technical Assistance Methodology (PASITAM) was supported by a grant by the Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities (MUCIA) and represented Indiana University's major contribution to that program. PASITAM's mission was to to acquire, develop, and disseminate information about project design and implementation. Collection is organized in three series: Project, containing files maintained for use in developing their training materials and newsletters; Analytical Skills Workshop, containing files pertaining to PASITAM's major project which produced a series of training modules; and Reports, consisting of PASITAM's annual reports.

The International Development Research Center was founded in November 1962. The name was changed to the International Development Institute in 1974 when its mission shifted to focus on encouraging communication and information exchange. IDRC/IDI worked to coordinate and promote cross-cultural studies, to promote and develop plans for exploiting IU's strength in foreign language training, and to work for effective use of IU's membership in the American Universities Field Staff. Collection consists correspondence, annual reports, and publications of the IDRC/IDI. The majority of the records date from William J. Siffin's directorship.

This collection consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence, including letters to family and professional colleagues; date books listing Kaser's appointments, classes, and meetings; publications including copies of his books, journal articles, and reports, primarily dealing with the history of the development of American libraries, academic library administration, and the design and construction of library buildings; biographical and personal information which includes his resume, a list of his publications, and information on his consulting activities; and teaching records which includes VHS recordings of two courses which Kaser taught.

Collection consists of records generated between 1954 and 1993 by University Computing Services. The Research Computing Center was established in 1954 and evolved into the Marshal H. Wrubel Center in 1973 and after 1981 University Computing Services. The collection is organized in three series. The Director's correspondence series consists almost entirely of outgoing correspondence from the director's office, arranged chronologically. Directors represented in the collection include the Center's first directors, Lynne Merritt and Marshal H. Wrubel as well as subsequent directors. The Minutes series, arranged chronologically, consists of minutes of the senior staff meetings and the final series, Reports, contains UCS's annual reports from 1958-59 through 1992-93. Also included in the series are the proceedings of an annual conference on instructional and academic computer applications which UCS helped organize, reports from the Research Computing Center Committee, reports submitted to the National Science Foundation in support of grant applications, and study reports on instructional computing. The series is arranged alphabetically.

The most prominent subject of the collection, consisting of 11 folders, deal with the early development of the Theatre/Neal-Marshall Center.
