Formed in 1980, Integrity/Bloomington was the local chapter of Integrity/International, a nationwide LGBTQ+ advocacy and support group affiliated with the Protestant Episcopal Church. This collection consists of some of the newsletters it produced.

Edgeworthalean Society constitution, by-laws, and minutes, 1841-1844

The Edgeworthalean Society was a ladies' literary society founded in 1841 by twelve women of Monroe County in Bloomington, Indiana, and was named after the English author, Maria Edgeworth. The goal of the society was to cultivate and improve the minds of the women through recitations, composition arguments, reading, writing, diction, analyzing sentences, and so on. Each meeting a question for debate was posed and roles assigned for the next meeting. The society met on a weekly basis in the Monroe County Female Seminary which was founded for women in 1818. The date of the last recorded meeting minutes was June 14, 1844. There is no indication of why the society ended. The collection consists of one minute book containing the society's constitution, by-laws, and meeting minutes.

Elisha Ballantine sermons and lectures, 1872-1879, undated

Elisha Ballantine was a professor of mathematics, languages, and Greek at Indiana University from 1854 until his death in 1886. Collection consists of nine of Ballantine's religious sermons and lectures, including a eulogy for student Anton F.E. Boisen.

Emma K. Schmidt Indiana University scrapbook, 1916-1918

Emma K. Schmidt was a student at Indiana University from 1916 to 1918. This collection consists of a scrapbook she made to document her time at IU and includes information on campus buildings, booklets from campus events, local newspaper clippings, school and financial documents, and miscellaneous memorabilia. There is also an IU Red Book, a publication with class and event schedules, faculty and student directories, and information pertaining to different groups or organizations on campus.

William R. Ringer papers, 1916-2011, bulk 1916-1918

William R. Ringer graduated from Indiana University in 1920. After earning his JD at the University of Michigan, he went on to have a successful legal career. This small collection consists primarily of diaries and journals maintained while Ringer was an Indiana University student.

William Wylie Blair essays and correspondence, 1847-1848

William Wylie Blair entered Indiana University in 1845. He attended through the 1848 school year, but did not graduate. This small collection consists of six essays written by Blair while he was a student at IU as well as an 1848 letter written to Blair and friend Jonathan Dixon Wylie by former classmate James Strean, who was an IU student at the time of writing.

Indiana University Conservative League records, 1961-1970

The Indiana University Conservative League was a student organization that aimed to give a voice to conservative students on campus through publication and event programming. The organization held talks and debate panels featuring prominent conservative figures, such as William F. Buckley Jr. and Ernest van den Haag, and ran a publication titled, the Hoosier Conservative, which contained political commentary, event announcements, and recommended further reading. This single-series collection contains publications, faculty-advisor correspondence, and event announcements from 1961 to 1971.

The Indiana Renegade, 1955-1956

This collection includes three issues of the independently produced campus humor magazine, the Indiana Renegade, all published during the 1955-1956 school year. An "unofficial" publication, the Renegade was the creation of a number of students from Indiana University, most prominently IU senior Clint Major.

Willkie Residence Center scrapbooks and other materials, 1962-2007, bulk 1968-1981

The Wendell L. Willkie Quadrangle opened in the fall of 1964 as a residence hall for men and women, and was rededicated as the Willkie Residence Center in 2000. This collection contains four scrapbooks that were compiled by staff of the Willkie Quadrangle residence hall between 1968 and 1981. The scrapbooks contain photographs, newspaper clippings, event pamphlets, and other materials that document staff and resident events during their respective time periods. In addition, the collection contains loose photographs of Willkie staff and leadership teams from 2004-2007, as well as loose newspaper clippings and other materials documenting Willkie residents and staff from the late 1960s to the early 1980s.

New Horizons newsletters and flyers, 1975-1976

New Horizons was an independent community center founded in 1975 that intended to serve the increasingly open LGBTQ+ population in Bloomington. It did so by providing a physical space for the community to meet and gather, as well as supporting programming such as classes, organization for protests, and dances. This collection consists of newsletters and flyers produced by this organization.

William W. Spencer papers, 1872-1911, bulk 1876-1877

William W. Spencer was an 1877 graduate of the Indiana University Law Department and was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 1911. Collection consists of writings, moot court trial records, and general files.

German assignment papers, 1947-1951

This collection has been incorporated into the Herman B Wells papers, Collection C75. Please visit the C75 finding aid, "German Assignment" series to review and request access to these materials.Herman B Wells was an Indiana University alumnus, president, and chancellor. Late in 1947, in the midst of his presidency, Wells took a six month leave of absence to serve as Director of the Education and Cultural Relations Division of the Office of Military Government for German, U.S. (OMGUS). During this time he also served as General Lucius D. Clay's cultural affairs advisor. The collection includes correspondence, writings and reports, a diary, and subject files but consists primarily of correspondence with Indiana University, fellow OMGUS personnel, and individuals seeking help immigrating or locating displaced persons.

Indiana University's Girl Friday Club scrapbook, 1964-1975

The Girl Friday Club was founded in 1964 as a social club for secretaries and female office workers of Indiana University. It was run by a Steering Committee that planned luncheons, entertainment, and outings for the women in order to encourage familiarity among women working in different departments. The scrapbook covers activities from 1964-1972 with a few papers about the activities of 1975.

Ulysses G. Weatherly Social progress manuscript, circa 1926

In 1895, Ulysses G. Weatherly joined the Indiana University faculty, where he remained until his retirement in 1935. Throughout his teaching career, he taught courses in many disciplines, including history, sociology, and economics. This collection consists entirely of his Social Progress manuscript, which includes not only his typescripts but also his handwritten drafts and notes.

Leonard C. Ruckelshaus papers, 1914-1970, bulk 1922

Leonard Conrad "Ruck" Ruckelshaus graduated from Indiana University with an A.B. in Economics in 1923. Ruckelshaus was on the IU varsity baseball squad as an outfielder, as well as the IU varsity football squad. This collection largely consists of materials documenting the IU varsity baseball team's 1922 trip to Tokyo, Japan, upon the invitation of Waseda University. A diary documenting the trip, as well as letters, a scrapbook, and a large number of photos constitute this small collection.

Indiana University Axolotl Colony newsletters, 1976-1998

The IU Axolotl Colony, started in 1957, was a National Science Foundation -funded breeding colony of Mexican axolotl located in the Department of Biology at Indiana University in Bloomington. The colony supplied axolotl embryos, larvae and adults to laboratories for use in genetic research and to classrooms until the colony was moved to the University of Kentucky in 2005. Collection consists of newsletters.

Indiana University Browning Society minutes, 1916-1921

The Browning Society of Indiana University was established about 1916 as a social society to discuss the works of poet Robert Browning and issues associated with mid-late nineteenth century society. The collection consists of a book of the society's meeting minutes and includes information about active members.

Indiana University Classical Club's The Classic, 1921-1923

The Classic (originally titled The Classical Club Notes) was a publication issued by the Classical Club of Indiana University, a student organization centered around celebrating its members' enthusiasm for the study of Classics. The Classic featured essays and passages of translations by Indiana University faculty, alumni, and students, as well as announcements for upcoming Classical Club events. This single-series collection contains issues of the Classic spanning three volumes, dating from 1921 to 1923.

Indiana University Folklore Institute Jokes, 1968-1971

The Indiana University Folklore Institute has a long history of collecting the oral literature and arts of Indiana. This collection consists of jokes collected by students of Indiana University, taking classes in the Folklore Department from 1968-1971. Joke subject matter includes ethnicity, politics, sexuality, gender, and religion.

Indiana University literary society student ledger, 1864-1875
