Virley Ellsworth Clark, 1880-1947, was a resident of Monroe County, Indiana, who served in the Spanish-American War.
The two earliest items are photographs of James Marshall Clemens, 1861, 5th Kentucky Cavalry, and of Virley Ellsworth Clark. Also present is the military appointment of Virley Clark as Sergeant in Co. F, 159th regiment of Indiana Volunteers, dated June 1, 1898, and a marriage license for Virley E. Clark and Nellie B. Clemens, Monroe County, June 22, 1900. The license is then certified by Reverand Thomas J. Clark as having joined them in marriage 24 June 1900. Nellie, 1879-1984, was possibly the daughter, or at least of some relation to James Marshall Clemens.
The remaining items relate to "The Family Tree of Israel and Sarah Moore" by C.P. Moore Gilbert, including a letter to Virley E. Clark , November 21, 1922, about the revolutionary war service of Gersham Moore in the New Jersey militia.
