Krishna Winston, a professor in the German Studies Department at Wesleyan University, has translated the works of Günter Grass, Peter Handke, and Werner Herzog, among others. She credits her passion for translation to her parents, Richard and Clara Winston. She was awarded the Helen and Kurt Wolff Prize and has also served on its jury. She is also a two-time winner of the Schlegel-Tieck Translation Prize. Her areas of expertise include 20th-century German and Austrian drama and fiction and the work of Thomas Mann.
The Winston mss., ca. 1998 - 2011, consist of drafts of German literature translations by Krishna Winston, a professor in the German Studies Department at Wesleyan University. The collection of translation drafts and related materials is organized by the date of translation work.
This collection is open for research.
Prior arrangements are not necessary before coming to the Library. However, patrons from out of town are encouraged to communicate with the Library in advance of their visits to ascertain availability of materials.
