Captain Thomas A. Cobb, Commanding Company A, 10th Indiana. A farmer and school teacher of Lebanon, Indiana. His father was Squire Cobb, who was a Justice of the Peace in Boone County.

The Cobb mss. consists of letters, 1860-1864, from Captain Thomas A. Cobb to his family. Captain Cobb wrote about his experiences and his two brothers with him at war in Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky. The first three letters, 1860-1861, are from school and at home. Later letters from 1862 and 1863 detail the carnage of Tennessee Civil War battles at Pittsburgh Landing, Murfreesboro, and Chattanooga.
The collection consists of 19 letters, totaling 60 pages, with 4 letters written by Captain Cobb's relatives. Also included are many copy-pages of his Civil War record, pension papers, and biographies from Lebanon.
