Historical Note

Much was still unknown about the causes of diseases and how to cure them during the 18th and 19th centuries. The records constituting this collection document some of the thinking and medical practices of a time when medical practices were still being developed and were somewhat controversial.

The Medical mss., ca. 1720-1890, consists of manuscripts regarding medical procedures, treatises, records, etc. in French and Latin. Five manuscripts complete the collection.
