Dorothy M. Brandt, 1897-1991, ran the Literary Clipping Service of Walton, New York, for almost five decades from 1929 until the mid-1970s with the exception of the war years, 1941-1945. She collected clippings and offered them for sale to authors and publishers.
The collection consists of the partial contents of the archive from a commercial clipping service provider aimed primarily at authors. Includes book reviews, notices of publication and appearances, and some longer critical articles from English language print sources. Most articles have an attached slip identifying the source of the text and the date of publication in that source. The arrangement within each author category is as received. Authors for which there are many clippings have a separate box labeled with the author's name. Clippings for authors with fewer clippings are filed in recycled envelopes labeled with the author's name. The file for Pearl Buck contains some related correspondence.
The collection is arranged into the following series: Boxes and Envelopes. Each series is arranged alphabetically by author's last name.
