- Biographical / Historical:
Charles Edmonds Walk, 1875- , was an Indiana author. He was born on March 18, 1875 in Memphis, Tennessee and may have died in 1943, though his exact death date is not known. Among his publications are novels-- The Silver Blade (1908), The Yellow Circle (1909), The Pasternoster Ruby (1910), The Time Lock (1912), The Crimson Cross (1913), and The Green Seal (1914)—and short stories featured in magazines like Blue Book. In addition to being a mystery writer, Walk was registered for the World War I draft in 1918 and was also a member of the Christian church.
William Gerard Chapman, 1877-1945, was president of the International Press Bureau, Chicago, Illinois. The International Press Bureau was a literary agency that sold and syndicated short stories, serials, and feature articles in newspapers and magazines in the United States and in several foreign countries.

The Chapman Mss., 1913-1922 and 1933, consists of the correspondence with and relating to Indianan author Charles Edmonds Walk, 1875-, from the office file of president of the International Press Bureau, Chicago, Illinois William Gerard Chapman, 1877-1945.
The letters in this collection relate to Walk's writings, the publication and syndication of some of his short stories and detective stories, and to attempts to sell motion picture rights to some of his stories.
In addition to Chapman and Walk, the collection includes the correspondence of Joseph Brandt, Clifford Howard, S.S. Hutchinson, P. G. Lynch, and George Ethelbert Walsh. Biographical material on Chapman appears in The National Cyclopedia of American Biography , XXXIV:279. Walk is included in Indiana Authors and Their Books, 1816-1916... compiled by R.E. Banta (Crawfordsville, Ind., 1949). p. 328.
