- Biographical / Historical:
Charles Ralph Boxer, 1904-2000, was a colonial historian specializing in the expansion of the Portuguese and Dutch. From 1967 until 1979 he was research professor in Indiana University.
Michael Cooper, 1930- , is a Jesuit author, editor, and historian.
- Scope and Content:
The Cooper, M. mss., 1965-1992, consist primarily of letters and holiday cards from colonial historian, Charles Ralph Boxer, 1904-2000, to Jesuit author and editor Michael Cooper. The letters discuss writing projects of both men, mutual friends, activities and travels. The 1984 letters tell of various 80th birthday celebrations in Boxer's honor, including those at Indiana University in March, King's College London in June, and Macao in September.
The final item is the collection is a printed invitation to Rev. Fr. M Cooper, SJ, to join in a celebration of Charles's 90th birthday at the Bridgewater Arms Little Gaddesden, 8th March 1994.
