Scope and Content:

The English legal documents, 1510-1858, consist of mortgages, deeds, indentures, wills, leases, marriage settlements and contracts and powers of attorney. Included with them are five letters, 1800-1858.

The letters consist of two letters, March 10, 1852, and Match 8, 1858, to Peter Dumont Vroom, 1791-1873, lawyer, congressman, and governor of New Jersey; a copy of a letter, April 28, 1800, to John Lynch French, sugar planter of St. Kitts, West Indies, who was in London at the time, from Jedediah Kern, St. Kitts; and two letters, July 24, and October 31, 1800, from John Lynch French, St. Kitts, to Christopher Rolleston, London, in regard to shipments of sugar and the affairs of Mr. French's plantations.

Most of the legal documents in the collection are in three oversize boxes, while the non-oversize items are housed within a single document box.
