Biographical / Historical:

Originally from Catalonia in Spain, part of the Marull family--in particular Francisco Salvio Marull and his family--moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Marull business was mainly in the importing and exporting of pharmaceuticals and leather. At least three ships were used extensively by the family, the frigates La Luna, Armonia, and Nuestra Senora de los Dolores.

Scope and Content:

The documents in this collection were taken from the Latin American mss. Argentina, and made a separate collection. The collection contains business and personal letters, business accounts, inventories, receipts, lists of weights and prices, and a letter copybook covering a time span of eight years (1802-1810).

The correspondents in the collection include Juan Baptista Arquer, Baltasar Bacardi, Antonio Barcelo y Prats, Antonio Jose de Caldas, Juan Fidel Costa, Francisco Estrada, Francisco Fauler, Francisca Marull, Francisco de Paula Marull, Jose Marull, Maria Marull, Narciso Marull, Tomas Marull, Narciso Marull y Torrent, Francisco Migues, Jose Modolell, Pedro Olave, Margarita Peresas y Marull, Catalina Pla Estrada, Juana Seleza y Marull, Antonio de Valles, and Pedro Ysern.

Information concerning the Marull family can be found in Enrique Udaondo, Diccionario biográfico colonial argentino, Buenos Aires, Editorial Huarpes, S.A., 1945 (F2805 .U225).
