Dale Messick, 1906-2005, was a cartoonist and author of the Brenda Starr, Reporter comic strip from South Bend, Indiana.

Scope and Content:

The Messick mss. XIII, April 10-May 4, 1953, consist of 20 pen and ink drawings for the daily newspaper comic strip Brenda Starr, Reporter by cartoonist Dale Messick, 1906-2005. The story is a continuation of the Sir Oliver Twerp/Howie Haddum/Zeela Lee mystery begun in Messick mss. X.

Each panel is dated with the month and day on which it appeared in print. Panel for April 13 appearance is lacking.
