Note on Indexing Term - "Science": Of interest is the Dec. 12, 1851 Treatise on natural philosophy, dealing with the philosophy of salt lake, cause of deserts, origin of gold, matter, magnetism, and planetary motion written by Riley Root.

Note on Indexing Term - "Travel": Includes an account of a ca. 1835 journey to Peoria by way of the canal, steamboat from Buffalo to Chicago to Peoria, Illinois and gives a description of the surrounding country.
