Background

Biographical / Historical:

David Sinclair, 1901-1987, was a physicist and the son of Meta (Fuller) Stone and Upton Sinclair.

Scope and Content:

Some of the topics discussed include Upton's Thunder Over Mexico project and the acquisition of his papers by Indiana University.

Family related items include a summer 1913 "terminal report" for David, age 11, from The Home School; "Letters of Administration," Nov. 4, 1931, to David as administrator for the estate of his grandmother Priscilla Sinclair; and the cemetery lot deed bought by Upton and wife May, Jan. 8, 1968. Also present is a folder of photographs of David's mother, Meta (Fuller) Stone and her family; one folder of David Sinclair photographs, and two folders of Upton Sinclair photographs, including family and friends; four folders of clippings from scrapbooks; and three folders of miscellaneous printed items relating to David and to Upton. Four reel-to-reel tapes and a folio which includes a 1983 pen and ink portrait drawing of Upton Sinclair complete the collection.
